Came across this on BBI's page =

http://www.bbicn.com/smallimg/8380.jpg

The case is large enough to fit 2 1/6-scale figures with positionable lights.

There's a demo vid on YouTube that gives you a pretty good idea on what it looks like / does. If you have the space this looks like a good way of showcasing certain figures versus cramming them into a display case.

I have a few figures I'd like to put into one, not sure if anyone else has come across this yet.

Man, I wish they would make these bigger for us statue collectors!
These would sell like hot cakes and are easy to ship to any place!

oh sweet!!!! Well I can't tell from the CG video but if you know the thickness of the acrylic you can always cut your own taller version to fit a 1/4 figure as the footprint seem large enough.
I suspect they are using 1/8" acrylic so I would suspect even at this height the side panels may bend without anything holding the panels together in the corners... going taller will certainly amplify the issue but then I would get the taller panels in glass

I do like that touch switch and moveable LED lights.

Probably going to cost a bit more than I can afford though. But that would make one hell of a display

Link to BBI page (http://www.bbicn.com/productShow.asp?id=8380) and I believe they take international orders.

Price wise I've seen this in the $70 range. XL-Shop (http://www.xl-shop.com/xlshop/pages/productDetails.asp?productId=PRE-LS-MLH1001B&catId=&option=&subCatName=&catName=) (which has been around for a while) has it for $65 USD.

some searches on google pulled up a few other vendors with a release of early December.

Saw some actual pictures of the product on one of the websites. Too bad the lights don't look like the spotlights in the CG but but with a LED bulb making it look like Xmas lighting on the end but maybe I find some running to cover it but certainly excited to try this

I thought I saw another picture somewhere else but just can't seem to find it.
The spotlights might not be enough to rely on only but then again using this type of display it would not be in a cabinet but likely on a desk so there should not be a shortage of light

Size-wise this would be good for many figures, not for buckets, unfortunately. I would like to have a nicer way of displaying those!

For smaller figures, Hobby Lobby / Michaels (even Bed, Bath, Beyond) sells clear acrylic stands that would work within the case. I actually have smaller figures on a 3-tier clear stand that was actually a shelf insert for spices that would fit perfectly within one of these.

Overall size is 11.5 " x 8" x 17.75"

Trying to order one from the XL-Shop. Has total at $64.70 and then after you click "Order Now" you are then informed they will send you information regarding shipping costs. From Malaysia to 66062 (Kansas)? Any ideas on how much that'll run??

It does clearly state that after they determine shipping costs, I have the right to then decide if I wish to purchase. Unusual, never completed a transaction this way....hmmm.

Thank you for your kind thoughts.....I just emailed Angolz and have asked for a shipping quote. Since I never gave my credit card information, I don't mind ordering elsewhere. Not sure how a company can run business without communication....

On a related note with Angolz, am I missing something? When you click on the larger image for the Master Lighthouse Black Version, it states pre-orders close on 11/10/12.....but yet, I can still add it to my cart. (I also noticed it says the release date is January 2013, fyi)

I didn't notice the 1/2013 date. I wanted one for the Jack Sparrow DX I bought my wife for Christmas here in time as well but I guess it doesn't really matter. It'll be at least January before all her Christmas decorations are down and the HT collection can return to it's rightful place. I'm hoping he'll fit in there with the wheel.

I did see the "closes 11/10/12" and was equally as confused. They seem to still be accepting POs and they didn't mention anything in the email so I can only assume we're still good to go.

THE REVIEW

ok so i bought this case (black) off ebay on 1/1/13 and it shipped out the next day. It arrived in the USA on 1/4/13 and was in customs and finally delivered today on 1/9/13. So not bad coming from Hong Kong to San Francisco. The seller packed it well and everything was in perfect condition.

The box had some weight to it, i say about 8 pounds. It comes in a slip cover like hot toys and after the slipcase is off there is noting but a plain brown box. Flipping it open i see the two base (top, bottom) and 3 acrylic plastic, and 1 mirror backing. There is also a box with the lights and a usb plug for power.

The base top and bottom are identical and are made of plastic. I wish it was made with something stronger and thick but no. On it you will see an on/off switch and a hole to plug in the adapter. On the back of the base on the corner the logo Ledgen Studio made in China in printed in back. Since the base are identical, one of the logo's will be upside down. Good thing the is in the bad and will not be a factor. The top and bottom base takes 3 AAA batteries to power the 4 Led lights on each base. Or you can use the option usb plug which is included to power both.

The side and front acrylic plastic come with a film covering that needs to be removed before installing. Glad they did this to prevent scratching and damage in the box. Each plastic has a good weight to them.

The back Mirror also has a film to protect before installing. The mirror is shiny and clear. On the back of the mirror it is just white cardboard.

The Led lights are great. small and bright. and able to manually rotate up to 90 degrees. 4 on top and 4 on bottom.

The touch controls on this is like a touch lamp. Just touch the middle center of the bottom or top base and the light will turn on.
The light feature works very well. As you can turn the top on and leave the bottom off, or vice versa, or both.

This is a great plus that they included the usb power adapter to power the top and bottom base. This is good if you plan on displaying this case on an office desk close to a cpu.

Overall i am very please with this case. The light pegs are manually rotatable to get that perfect lighting to really show off your Hot Toys or Statue. The included USB is a great way to save batteries and allowing you to leave on the light. The touch on/off light is what i expected and works flawlessly. Love the clear mirror in the back. This case can hold two hot toys figure side by side with no problems

I wish there was more heft on the base and thicker acrylic on the plastic but these are minor grips for a wonderful case. I paid 99.99 for it shipped. I think it was worth it and hope someone in the US will carry it for a cheaper total price. Otherwise i would not mind dropping $99.99 for another one.

I just received 4 of these cases and the first one I put together, the light only flickered on then off. I had to hold the top down with my hand to get the light to stay on. If I turned off the switch, then turned it back on, the light didn't work again. In order to get the bottom lights to work, I had to turn the case over and again hold down the black part. Has anyone else had any problems with the lights?

Geil
07-18-2013, 05:15 PM
Actually a lot of ppl don't tea stage instructions thinking this is a sumo ole case o welcoming the touch ditch in the front of the plastic base/top. Thats included my LCS ;). So when you switch it on it flashes on briefly and that's it. Then you need to touch the centre of the front to turn it on. The touch switch is not as reliable I found though. As for your observation most likely when you thought you needed to hold it to turn it on all you really did is touching the touch switch part accidentally ;)

:borg "Resistance is Futile"

greatlakes6
07-18-2013, 07:21 PM
You are right, I tried the touch and it worked for the top portion. My ottom portion will only work with the touch when a portion of the base is not touching anything. If it is sitting flat on a tale, the base won't work, but if I bring it forward to the edge of the table and let it go over the due a bit, then it works. Very strange.

Geil
07-18-2013, 10:36 PM
yeah the touch circuit is flacky and I want to take a closer look at it when I get a chance. One of my sets will only work properly when the front panel is sitting loosely on the bottom base. If you take a peek there is a copper plate in that area that is responsible for picking up the static discharge. It is right where the gap is for the panel and I see that they are not protected from the panel and can easily be crushed by it too and maybe related to your issue?
Ultimately I want to circumvent it so I can wire all the lights up to a USB hub and a remote switch to turn it all on w a switch of a button.

Even more strange and I am no where near close to being able to explain this. All my LS cases (I tested 2x 1/4 and 1x 1/6) when placed on my custom shelf with integrated CCFL lights as a light box will turn on automatically with my CCFL lights, no touching!!!! To top that off it also turns off with the lights but only after a second cycle of on/off??!!!! I mean ok touch sensitive switch must be sensitive to very low static level discharge but still almost seem like black magic

Thanks for the info. I need to choose wisely where I display these cases. Thinking in advance, what do you do if a bulb goes? Can they unscrew and come out and are replacements bulbs available anywhere?

Geil
07-19-2013, 03:01 PM
LEDs last a long time. Usually it's everything around it that goes first eg cheap LED flashlights usually just die due to poor soldering jobs. Don't think you need to worry too much about these as the bulbs are essentially just LEDs soldered to a connector. also heat is the trigger but these are relatively low power and emit no heat that I can tell so again don't think too much to worry about

Actually now looking at both the 1/4 and 1/6 case being the same base size neither case should be deep enough to hold an Endo bust w the 7.25" clearance

Received my Legends 1/4 display case and have to say that I was pleasantly surprised as to how cool this case is! It comes to your door flat packed and is extremely easy to assemble! 2 Black panels (top and bottom) and 4 sheets of clear acrylic (2 sides a front and back) The back sheet is mirrored for a cool look at what your piece looks like from the back!

Each black panel takes 3 AAA batteries and the lights are touch sensitive so one touch of your finger on any part of the black panels will enable you to turn the lights on or off - a very cool feature!

I'm definitely planning on picking up more of these cases down the line...only downside I could find was the total lack of width on these cases. Its almost as narrow as its 1/6 scaled version :( so your figures would literally have to be posed with the arms kept close to the sides as possible to fit them inside...

Here is a quick pic of mine displaying the 1:1 Endo T-800 Bust

Thanks for the info, your bust looks great in there. :yess:

Considered these cases for 1/4 but these are indeed way too narrow. Actually they are also not very deep. I have two Legend 1/6 cases, but the light-up function is pretty damn unreliable on both, totally random tapping to make them work.

Wouldn't hurt if they state the INSIDE dimensions somewhere also. These had so much potential, sigh. :monkey2

yea, the actual display space is a major disappointment. My touch sensitivity isn't as bad as yours although it does state on the instructions that if your finding the touch sensitivity wearing off then you may need to change the batteries. I put in some fresh ones last night and it works a treat...

Your definitely right about potential though. More display space would have made this a 10/10! However, in my books it gets a pretty good 8/10 :hi5:

My big burning question is with the USB power source. If I get a wall USB unit on a switch plug.... will the lights toggle on and off? Or does it have to be activated with the touch control every time?

Yup. Won't turn on when powered. Need to mod it. Bridge the touch switch which is kit that reliable anyways

Yep, I got 3 of the Master Lighthouse display cases from BBTS....I have to say, they're pretty cool. Top & bottom bases are powered by a single USB cable, & I got a Duracell dual USB AC charger from Office Depot (a single unit is powering both cases). Rear panel can be mirrored or solid white. The panels are touch sensitive for on/off switching, and the front panel is spring loaded for easy removal. I wish the LED's had a wider beam but oh well.
Yeah, the LEDs photograph bluish if you don't adjust the white balance of your camera....in hand they aren't blue at all...but they are on the cool side of white (for all you Kelvin freaks out there).

Hey there are two sites to try that were cheaper than eBay (I reside in CA);

1) http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=LGS10002&mode=retail

2) http://www.angolz.com/store/master-light-house.html

I just ordered 2 off Big Bad Toys, since after shipping cost per unit came out to roughly $101 and some change each. Speaking of which I'll post them after I get them too!

Hey everyone, as promised here are the posted pictures of the Legend Studios Display case. These are the 1/6 display case. Let me say they are ahhhmazing!

There is a TINY slit of an opening on the side though where the acrylic glass meets. My only complaint is that the USB to power the lights are really short and I suggest you might need an indoor office extension cord.

The lights also aren't blue as expected. They're full fledged ice white as I believe someone else mentioned.

I got them from superbrightleds.com (http://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/aluminum-light-bars/lbfa-luxbar-series-led-linear-light-bar-fixture/74/)...a 6" bar, pigtail cord, power supply & dimmer. Wow that looks pretty sweet easy to install? might look into getting some, will be picking another one of these cases up for my endo eventually. How well does EB bats fit in got enough headroom? he's in a pretty neutral pose but up right for me so wondering if he'll squeeze in.

Karnis
11-04-2013, 04:27 PM
I just stuck the light bars in there with some double sided mounting tape. The pigtail is held in place by the panels where the cable peeks thru. Super simple.

The EB Bats is at the upper limit in terms of height inside the box IF you use the stand...obviously you get some headroom back without it.

Here's a list of parts...the 1 to 4 power splitter is used for expansion.

unfortunately not since there is about 2-3mm of space between the pvc and the bottom/top stands of the case. that would give you about a 5mm space in-between the two case when sat next to each other.

So I just got mine yesterday. After setting it up and giving the pvc a good wipe down I am quite pleased with it. I'm still waiting on my 1/4 batman to put inside of it so Bane will have to make do for the time being haha :impatient:

The PVC and bases are quite nice, the PVC doesn't feel too flimsy and the bases do their job. The completed display is quite heavy 4-5kg, hence the $60 I paid to have it shipped from China, (which arrived in only 5 days from inxpro of which I was shocked as I was given an estimate of 2-3 weeks).

It is quite the dust collector though and be careful of fingerprints as expected with such large, clear surfaces.

Overall very pleased, good price and will definitely be getting the wider, diorama sized one if the future

They have a master switch on both the top and bottom panels which when on allows the touch sensor to operate. When I ran mine on batteries, I found my touch sensor was temperamental and had to switch on and off with the switches at the back. I have since starting using a uSB power supply which is plugged in continuously and I just turn on and off with the touch sensor.
In answer to your question, if you are plugged into the mains power with the USB cable and the rear switches are on, you can turn the lights on and off by just switching the power on at the mains. No need to touch the light box at all. :)

As a previous owner, I'd say your pretty restricted in terms of space as to what you could display. For example, you'd need a piece that was in a more museum pose rather than anything dynamic. Unfortunately, the narrowness of this display case would be it's only drawback from being a very cool and affordable option to display your 1/4 figures.

I for one used my case to display by 1:1 Endo Skeleton T-800 bust...

No mate, you can't. A single DX base takes 70% of the width (and almost full depth) of the case. If you want to put in two figures you would have the use the rectangular ones or none at all.

Wish the lights weren't blue, otherwise this would be a no brainer purchase for me

These concerns kept me from buying this display case, too! Even if these LEDs aren't blue, but just cold white, they would look really terrible in my collection, because I light up all of my collectibles using warm white LEDs (2700 K). I bought it a few days ago anyway - and just in case somebody was still wondering: Yep, it looks awful in combination:

98783

But I was able to modify the light up function using LEE-Filters - you will lose some overall amount of light, but get a more suitable color temperature:

Just in case, somebody has the same issue: I used a sheet of "628 Three Quarter Digital LED C.T.O. Filter" (http://www.leefilters.com/lighting/colour-details.html#628&filter=ld) - had also tested a sheet of 624 Full Digital LED C.T.O., but that one lowered the color temperature too much.

I didn't receive any e-mail from them and they also have my deposit. On my order page it says "processing". I guess I need to make a phone call. If you look at their site right now, it shows the items as available with a limit of one per person. I wonder if the right hand is aware of what the left hand is doing?

These concerns kept me from buying this display case, too! Even if these LEDs aren't blue, but just cold white, they would look really terrible in my collection, because I light up all of my collectibles using warm white LEDs (2700 K). I bought it a few days ago anyway - and just in case somebody was still wondering: Yep, it looks awful in combination:

It's the Master Light House for 1/4 scale figures (23.3x8x11.4 Inch):

The figure inside is NECAs 18-inch Version of Gipsy Danger from Pacific Rim - I can really recommend this guy. ;)

My 1/4 Scale 6 pack .

if you have space to stack them etc it would have made more sense to get detolfs... of cause I have no clue if there is Ikea in UAE and what the pricing is like. these cases are great but not the best value and look better if used individually in unique fitting spaces

Stonefish

Besides the high price tag of that "six pack" - how long does it take you, to turn all lights on? Do you have to touch all 12 units separately, or did you find a solution to power up all at once?

You are correct im the sense that they are not the best value for money. Shipping them over cost me close to $200 . We have 2 Ikeas over here and the Detolf costs about $61. The reason I bought these originally was to house some my statues ( Premium Formats specifically ) but reality struck when they arrived with the limited internal space. Having said that they do come in handy for 1/4 scale figures if you have limited space. Detolfs would have taken much more space than this arrangement. I'm chalking this expense down to experience.

On a side note , I unfortunately also have 12 more ( 6 1/4 and 6 1/6 ) on preorder from SS which I can't cancel .... oh well cest la vie.

The light up effect is gimmicky at best. After a couple of days you would rarely bother unless someone is visiting etc. I don't have them wired together so if required I turn them on individually.

Geil

I think these lined up look actually quite nice I am just not fond of these stacked up for some reason. Maybe if you have the space make a floating shelf for all of them. The few I have I eventually want to short the touch switch and hook them up to my PC power supply which I can remotely power on and off using an RF AC switch and is already driving a bunch of other display lights. yeah can't be bothered turning them on and off individually ;)

So I purchased mine from Sideshow and I finally opened it up today to out it together. They gave me the mirror backing, but the 3 acrylic sides are nowhere to be found. There's what appears to be wooden backings, and at first I thought they were them with just protective sticker on them, but nope. I'm very surprised that they could overlook this when factory sealing it.

The three acrylic pieces are supposed to be covered with brown protective adhesive on both sides. Very surprised they didn't cath that.

I talked to their CS and was told that the orders for the black cases are on hold because of a delay in them receiving the shipment. I was assured that it would only be about a month.

It was a pain in the *** to get it off. I originally bought 4 cases, so I had to peel off 12 of those. Start at a corner and pick at the point with your finger nail. Once you get it up a little, pull a little at a time diagonally. Pieces of the paper will tear off and each time you have to try and pick at another little section to get it started again. You definitely have to be patient.

I have 5 of these myself, I think a solution might be this: http://www.amazon.com/Etekcity%C2%AE-Learning-Wireless-Control-included/dp/B00DQELHBS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1399571744&sr=8-4&keywords=wireless+power+switch

Leave them turned on and connected to those and you have a wireless switch. Until I get time to wire them all up using USB>EXTENSION CORD>WIRELESS POWER SWITCH, I'll just have to be like Vanna White and power them all up with the light touch of the unit. :huh

Thanks.... I just did it that day as a temporary setup for my friends wedding as it was sooooo last minute. I could not use both mirror backs as I needed to setup the display front to front to create a more square display. The front panel is shorter than the rear mirror panels so when using it on one of the rear slots it ended up being too short but it stayed in position kind of floating and was better than leaving it open. The lights certainly were acting up but managed to get it working somehow.....
This setup you found does not even have a visible seam in the front and back and there is no way the top box can stay in place just relying on the one side of acrylic panel without some voodoo :P I assume he had a custom piece cut for front and back to fit into the top and bottom boxes which is what I would do if I had time. Right now I am going to just build them a new display from scratch now that the wedding is over and I can take my time. It be cheaper and better fitting for their setup :P

I received 4 of the six I ordered today for the 1/4 scale collection. I got these with coupons over various months and for $59 a pop, they are pretty nice. I like the touch on/off, but I don't know if that is going to be an issue using a dimmer switch to daisy chain all of these. But easy to put together and the acrylic/ glass came well protected. I just checked the six in got in and they are all good. You may want to check 2 places. 1) the LEd lights them selfs and 2) the top or bottom light connector bases. Each base connector has a thin connector post for a male/female joint.
Make sure you are not stabbing the thin metal post to the side or down into the base when inserting the LEDs.

A couple of mine would get stuck and not go all the way in and after twisting them around gently they finally went down over the pin and lit up.

Good luck!

The side pieces are about 1/8 of an inch short on the sides. I don't know if that is by design or flaw. If you would want to keep the dust out, you could get some weather stripping and cut it down to very small pieces and line the back of the mirror wall then push the sides against it. It will make a clean seal in the front and the mirror back will blend the weather strip in the back keeping the dust out for you.

Since this is a cosmetic thing the stripping can be cut down to be very small and hardly noticeable but some people do not like having it show in the case.

I have two of the larger sized ones. They are pretty nice, but the price is a bit much considering you can get a Detolf case and add lighting for the same price, which has real glass, etc. Of course, the shelves are a bit smaller, but you can modify them pretty easily for larger things.

One of mine came with the USB connector pushed too far down in - so I had to open it up and fix it. It's actually rather easy to access - you remove the screw, take out the battery cover, and it basically just slides off. All that's in there is a tiny little circuit board, and two little wires going up to the USB connector. I slid it back into place, and closed it up. That part is easy to get to - but I have a feeling that if something was wrong going from the circuit board to the inside lights it would be more difficult (I didn't want to disassemble it any more, not sure if those foot pads can be removed, which may be hiding screws, and the whole thing able to be opened up or not).

The acrylic is nice quality - if you buy one of these, make sure you get some Novus plastic cleaner - you don't want to be using Windex or anything on this as it will discolor the acrylic over time. Novus stuff is cheap - you can just buy their #1 clean and shine, or the whole kit with all 3 products (used for scratch removal) which actually is the best deal - you can use it on anything plastic, from CD's to the interior of your car.

On that note, I figured out pretty quickly that you don't want to remove the sticky paper backing until you pretty much have the sucker fully assembled and in place, or you are going to have to start with a LOT of cleaning of fingerprints right off the bat. Basically, I pulled up the paper just enough on each end to be able to assemble it, and then didn't pull it all the way off until everything was in place. This made it much easier and saved a ton of time and annoyance.

The front panel is...iffy. It seems to rest on a spring-loaded mechanism. I'm a bit afraid how long that is going to last over time. Once you have the back and two sides assembled, you just push the front piece down, and then once it's in place the spring lifts it up and it reaches the top portion and it sort of suspends there.

My one real disappointment was that neither of the front panels I have actually sit flush - there is a small gap there on one side where the front doesn't perfectly meet the back. I think the spring is giving it too much pressure making it bow a bit. This means dust can enter - it's a small gap, and not really noticeable unless you are looking for it so visually it's fine, but it's not air tight. I've tried to come up with a few solutions for it, but nothing I can come up with to press them together would be acceptable visually, and/or would make it difficult to open it up later. I kept thinking some type of clip, but have yet to solve that one. For the price, I did expect it to truly be a closed environment. Since I have it on both of mine, bought at different times, I think it's a design flaw and not a one-off.

The lights are nice and bright, and very adjustable - and you can also remove some if you want. I have all 8 in each one, though sometimes depending on my mood I'll turn on the top or the bottom only. They would be easy to change out for different colors - if they actually made the colored lights available in a pack - it seems so far the only way to get them is if you buy one of the rotating stands. Initially it sounded like the rotating stands came with several different sets of different colors, and I was going to buy them just for that (the rotating stand would not work for the Premium Format figures I have in there). However, newer listings show one color choice - and that's too expensive to pay just to get more lights. They advertise how you can switch them out - would be nice if they sold the lights so we could, LOL.

Size-wise, I had no problem fitting the Premium Format Leia's in there (the white dress and slave). Obviously since she is shorter (about 16.5") there is plenty of space in the top. That said, I was worried that the Slave Leia wouldn't fit in there because of how far out her weapon goes, but she JUST fits in there without it touching the side. Basically, that's the limit of how wide it is - I could pretty much just slip a piece of thin paper between the tip of the staff and the side, and her base is nudged in between the two lights on the other side. I was a bit worried that she would look weird all off-center like that, but it actually looks pretty awesome, even displayed next to the other Leia which I do have centered in there.

To power it, I just got USB extenders ($5 each from Amazon) and thread them over to a USB hub. I love that they are completely hidden back there - I really hate the look of wires around displays, it really detracts to me. The cords that come with it are not going to be long enough for anything unless you just have one and the USB hub is right behind the display, so the extenders really are necessary.

Overall, pretty pleased - but yes, $100/whack with shipping was the most I would have paid to make them worth it. After getting these, though, I did cancel several 1/6 scale ones I had on order - they are only $10 cheaper and so many other options (namely, Ikea Detolf) just don't make them worth it at those prices, even if the lights look pretty cool. I don't plan on buying too many more Premium format figures unless they make more Leia's, but if I did, I would get another one of these if I could find them at a reasonable price. Depending on the price, I might look at some of the wider ones they are supposedly doing, but it's so hard to find information about what is coming out and when I haven't thought about it much and it will largely depend on price.

I give them a solid B+. :wink1:

that is very detailed review, thank you so much, just debating between this or the GOB. The only reason is because I don't have much room for another detolf as this or the GOB would fit on top of my empty desk. I am planning to get two and have ZoD and man of steel actually utilizing their dynamic stand. Just don't know if this can handle them flying height wise.

Great review!

I am interested in buying the larger (taller) from sideshow. Do you know if the dynamic stand that came with the 1/6 scale man of steel would fit inside there? Some videos make me think yes and some no. I measured the stands width and depth and compared it to the specs, but I'm not completely sure.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Just got this a week ago, it looks pretty solid option. A bit pricey if you compare it to detolf but I love it and will buy a couple more.

Hi guys i just stumbled upon this product just few weeks ago.. Iam planning on buying multiples of this to be used as a replacement Hall Of Armor ver2 (i dont wanna use the styro HoA) i bought 7 Pcs original HoA plus thinking of buying a few of this as many as how many Hot Toys decides on hpw many IM suit they are going to release anyway for my questions..

1) Is sideshow the best place to order this? I live here in Canada..
2) If i order from sideshow how many is the max number i can order?
a) Also if i order more than one or example i order 10 of these is there a way to save some $$$ from shipping?
3) Is there a way to interconnect more than 1 of this if i plan on not using batteries to run this?
a) If yes how many would be the safe number?

Jellowpy, I wish I could give you answers. I do know I've got two cases, side by side, and have yet to figure out how to connect them together. The only option I know is to use a USB splitter.

I actually have a question too, and I'm hoping this thread isn't dead. I just got by lighthouses set up, and the lights will not stay on. One moment they are on, then shut off the next, and it's random too. The top lights will go out, while the bottom stay on and vice versa. I have them plugged in using the USB right now. I'm not sure what to do! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Plus, any way around running my finger across their fronts to turn them on (that sounded less pervy in my head). I have all my display lights hooked to a central switch, so turning them every time is a bit of an annoyance.

Again, any help would be great!

I don't have any of these - was actually in this thread considering them - but Fearless Jay, it sounds like there's a connection that isn't making good contact somewhere. Probably a loose wire, but could be a bad soldering job too in the circuit. You'd have to take the thing apart to know.

As far as the front piece - again, I don't have one - but from dealing with other touch circuits in the past, it's probably designed so that once power is cut, it resets, so you have to touch it to turn it on when power is restored. Pretty common. I doubt there's a good solution to that one besides, again, doing some electronics work. I bet there's someone on here who would know how to rewire the thing better.

Gotta say, if you're looking to buy these then buy with caution. I purchased another 2 just before Christmas and they're absolutely fine but the previous 2 (bought in October) are now 50% as bright as they once were. That's a 50% reduction in less than 2 months and they've not been left on all that time either.

As others have said you can't just buy new LEDs either, and the suppliers don't get any spares to ship out to the buyer, then the final insult being you can't contact the makers of these cases at all as they don't have a website. :gah: utter waste of money unless I can find a solution.

Hi SmoothEmjay, were you able to find a solution? How are the 2 newer cases that you have? Did they start to dim out as well or are the LED lights still going strong?
Are any other Master Legend case owners having the same issue as SmoothEmjay?

Hey All,

Since my collection grew overboard, I am selling my Large Legend Studio Lighted Display Case. This is in great condition and only was used for about 6 months. No problems or issues with the lights, switches or wiring.

Note this is the large (Master) size. So this will fit a couple 1/6's, or a 1/4th.

Bringing this thread back to life! I have 7 of the cases side by side by side as I don't like to use stands so I put my 1/6 figures in them so if they fall over they don't...they just lean. I have them all connected via usb to rechargeable batteries but like some they are getting dimmer. This is my plan. I am going to remove the side walls between the cases. Then I am going to velcro them together to provide stability, especially when taking out the front wall to make adjustments. The reason I am going to remove side walls is because I am going to run a LED strip from the far left case to the far right case along the black tops (LED will point down). Can't decide if I am going to run along the front wall or the back wall near back mirrors. I will probably also use a diffuser for LED strip. Any thoughts??

Thanks...it will probably be this weekend before I get to do much. So far brainstorming:

1. Remove all figures - ugh
2. Start at far left case. Remove right wall of it and left wall of next case. Put black velcro along top and bottom of black black borders. Stick together. Repeat.
3. Get the same 16' LED strip as I have.
4. Once all 7 cases are velcro'd together, remove the front walls (this is why velcro them together is important....all the cases in the middle will only have the back wall at this point. Being attached to each other will provide support.
5. Start at back corner of far right case. Stick the LED strip all the way across the top back of all seven cases. When at far left case, come forward to front and then run along the front of all seven cases and when at far right, go back to where you started.
6. Put LED diffuser along all the lights.
7. Put figures back in, put fronts on.
8. Turn on LED lights with IR remote like all my Besta cases have.

Ugh. Plan may not be a go. Got home and looked at it. Cases MAY look ok with side panels removed (there is a gap between front panels) but my biggest concern is if one figure goes over they all could. Reason for using these cases is so I don't have to use stands. Tried an led spotlight in middle of top panel and it didn't provide enough light. Have to figure out how to get led strips into each without having to run separately for each case.

Trying to find some circular 12v led lights. Drill small hole in celing and run wire thru it (hopefully not hit any electronics). I have some small discs but don't light up enough. Need something like 4-5" diameter.

Man, I love these displays. Have bought 4 of them for my 1:4 NECA Turtles.

Only major downside is powering the lights. Before I bought them I assumed I could connect them to my time switches like my other cabinets. Really love it when the lights turn on automatically when it's getting dark outside.

So I used the USB cable and connected it to a time swith. The lights go off automatically, but to turn them on I constantly have to touch the upper and bottom part. Since I only want to let them shine im the evening (esthetical and power reasons) I'm wondering if there is a way to manipulate it and let them turn on via time switch. Off course I don't want to turn on all 4 cases manually every day.

I can see the touch sensors in the slits and placed something to touch it but it doesn't work. Right now I decided to let the lights shine permanently, so all day and night. But I think the LED's will run down very fast and it's a bit of a waste during daytime.

Anybody got advice? Thanks in advance!

The LED will run down and dim if you leave them on 24/7. I highly recommend only turning them on when in the room.

The Master Revolving House makes the Lighthouse version obsolete. The one puck LED at the top is daylight bright. No dark spots at all. You can also connect multiple cases together (good for extra space and dioramas) and the base can rotate your figure.

See the videos on YouTube. I got 2 of them currently in transit.

Yes, indeed. I think the lights are already less bright. I real don't want to turn all 8 switches on manually. If they are burned out I think I take them out, place 2 led strips in it and drill a hole in the upper and lower part for the wire. That way I can connect them to a time switch.

Did you already drilled your cases? If so, do you have pictures or advice where I can drill the best?

Does the Master Revolving fit 1:4 figures statues or figures (like the NECA Turtles above)?

The ones i've seen are only 1:6 or less.

Are there supposed to be gaps for this display case?

I just assembled my first one over the weekend and it does not appear to be sealed "air tight" when I put together the 4 panels. One side has a slight gap (between the mirror and side panels), which dust will probably eventually get in.

I was not sure if it's just a defect or perhaps I assembled it wrong. I bought 4 of them but was not sure whether to open the other ones if they all have this issue.

Wow, very disappointed to hear that every case has gaps. If I had known, I probably would not have dropped so much money on 4 cases. For the high price, you would think it would be air tight but i guess the main attraction of these are they fit up to 1/4 and have lighting.

Any solution to fix this gap flaw?

I saw some people were quite inventive with the Detlofs and used weather stripping to seal the gaps - that's not viable for these cases... i guess a simple (but ugly) solution would be clear saran wrap. my gap is on the side in the back bordering the back mirror panel so it might not be too unsightly if i place a thin strip to seal the gap.

I never addressed the gaps, probably should though. i will say that even the closest gaps let quite a bit of dust in. I am shocked how often I have to open it up, take everything out, and clean the inside. The plastic sides seem to have a static attraction to the dust and leaves a dust film.

On another note, we own a store called Rockerworld that specializes in gliding rocking chairs and curio cabinets. We are the second largest seller of curios in the country. Even the average cabinets get dust inside, so when looking at the Legend Studios case, it is not surprising how much gets in there. To completely keep it out, we use weatherstrips that are soft to fill in any gaps and keep everything tight.
