Sorry for the junkie cell phone picture, but here it is, my first custom. It is a repaint of the Hasbro Ben Kenobi head, with the outfit and such to follow soon. I definatly am looking for feedback and will post better shots soon.

Sort of hard to tell at this point, but I think you can lighten up the hair more and lighten the irises significantly. You almost have to overbrighten the color parts of the eyes to make them differ from the black.
Skintone is looking good, and everything looks clean! Good first effort!

Looks nice to me.Maybe lighten the hair more and it will be even better.
Its pretty hard to tell with those pictures,so the hair in person could be fine:D
Great first custom though.
Well done!

I agree with Mikey.... very very excellent first shot. The skin is fantastic and the beard looks pretty spot on. Do a little drybrushing on the hair and work on the eyes a little. From what I can see....it looks wonderful, far better than my first Hasbro repaint.
The eyes will be the hardest part of every figure you paint from now on I guarantee you, but with time and practice... you will master your own technique.
Best tips I could ever give...
1: Layer the colors and you will never go wrong... start dark and work to light. The end result will blow you away.
2: Drybrushing works.... it's awesome for hair and great for skin tone. If you can find acrylic chalk, get that stuff! It's awesome for customs.. (see Mikey's work to judge for yourself)
3: Take your time and do things in stages. I used to paint through my heads so fast that my paint was ruined over and over again. Just find a comfortable pace and enjoy it... :D
4: Experiment on figures that are "expendable" for a while before stepping it up to the nicer ones. That way you can gain experience without ruining your favorite collectibles. I took a few gambles here and there, but really... I think I got lucky.
5: Get a camera. Trust me. Look at my thread in it's earlier stages and you will see me doing this exact same thing. Eventually I got frustrated that my buddies could not see my work. And don't be like me.... remember to get a tripod as well.... or suffer the blurry pics like I do... :lol
There you go.... if you ever need any help.... ask any of us... Mikey, Les, me or Hurricane. We are here to help and I know that I will give any tips that I have or pointers in the right direction. Anything to help a fellow up and comer.
Can't wait to see what you do next! :chew

I dug up my own Kenobi pics. Maybe you'll get some ideas. I love that you're using the original (and far superior) Kenoi head. The Saga head looks aweful.

And again, Mikey's repaint shows you just how important the eyes are to a headsculpt. Those eyes bring that head to life!!! :frank
