Anyone still collect or display their Marvel Famous Covers "Mego" figures. I remember when they first came out in the late 90's. Really cool figures with cloth costumes.

Got a bunch of them in the attic. Worth less than their KB blowout prices.

Hulk and Red/Black Spidey are the ony decent ones in the series. Iron Man was alright.

Here is a pic I took when we moved 10 years ago. Been boxed up ever since. Doom is prolly all melted from the heat.

lol Falcon. What a stupid looking character. What was I thinking buying this junk.

Pretty sure I still have mine boxed up somewhere, including the mail away Aunt May with "basketball grip" hands!

Got a spiderman or two still boxed in the attic, they were nice for the time but no one is looking for these anymore.

Same here, got almost all of them all boxed up in crawlspace. If I ever get motivated will get them out and let my 4 year old at them.

These take me way back. I use to customize famous covers years ago. Think I still have most of these in the closet.

Never seen these before. Thanks for sharing.

Ha! How sad am I? I looked at the pictures first and thought, "Wow! They look cool! Must hunt them down."

Then read the comments and see that everyone thinks they're utter crap! LOL

If anyone wants to ship a set over to the UK, Ill gladly get these abominations out of your attics. No really! I won't even charge you for the service :)

There were a few dc figures, I can't remember if Toy Biz made them to or not. They're was some Kay-Bee and Toysrus exclusives as well. Green Lantern, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Batman Deluxe, Superman Deluxe, Batman and Robin deluxe, and I think there was even a Shazam. They weren't as popular as the Marvel figures or made the same. I only bought a few, and I couldn't even tell you where they're packed up.

Does anyone have a full list of the full sets?

Those weren't famous covers, but I know the ones you mean. I don't recall a Shazam, though. Batman had a removable cowl. I have Batman, Superman, Aquaman,Green Lantern,Green Arrow, Batman and Robin 2 pack, and I think that's all. The Batman and Robin was a golden age version I think.
I would be very interested in Shazam (Captain Marvel) if they made one.
Here is Batman

There was defintly NO Shazam, but there was an Electric Blue Superman for some strange reason...

They also made a Joker and Penguin in this line.

There's also a First Apperance Batman that came in a large box set with a book:

The cape has wires running through it to make it very poseable, for this scale, it's a great figure.

and now a not so great firgure, Batman Beyond:

Most recently, when Hasbro got the Marvel License they releases some 9" figures in the Famous covers vein that used molds from Toy Biz but also utilized the Hasbro DC 9" body.

The re-do's if you will were:

Spiderman:

Captian America:

Mr Fantastic:

plus a black costume Spider-Man

and added new characters that Toy Biz hadn't done:
The Punisher
Doctor Octopus
Sandman
Iron Spider-Man

and Updated looks for a couple of characters as well:
Cyclops and Wolverine in their Astonsihing looks

In all, in the 9" scale between Toy Biz's Famous Covers, plus a couple of spin lines, and Hasbro's various series, there were over 70 Marvel and DC figures's done in this scale, and I own all of them, including a couple of customs. A Star Trek 9" Picard in a Clark Kent suit sitting in a Barbie wheel chair becomes a very passable Professor X.

A John Byrne version of Cyclops (Toy Biz's was the Jim Lee era outift) consisting of a modified Toy Biz head on the slimest of the 3 Toy Biz bodys. And Johnny Storm custom made using a head from a 9" cop or Fire Fighter figure from Kay Bee put on a Reed Richards Toy Biz body.

At one time they were all on display on a shelf about a foot below the ceiling of my den, making a 3-D ceiling border encircling the entire room. I've since moved and now they are mostly boxed up. I have 7 of them on display, Thor, Hulk, Iron Man from Toy Biz and Captian America, Spider-Man, Wolverine and Mr. Fantastic from Hasbro.

These brought out a lot of really great customizers too, here's one of my favorites:

I love Hot Toys, but Mego was favorite as a kid and I'll always have a soft spot for these figures as these were intended as Mego homages.

Spiderman-Series 1
Captain America
Thor
Iron Man
Hulk
Dr Doom

are the best of the bunch in this line...some (like Iron Man) command somewhat higher prices on ebay

The batman beyond suffers in 2 respects:

1, he's got a HUGE head that just doesn't look right on the body, as Michael Crawford so ofthen points out in his reviews, sometimes it's tougher than people think to make a 2-D image into a 3-D figure, this is definitely one of those cases.

2. He has a crappy "action feature" of a Bat grapple hook attached to a self winding string in a back pack thingie that's not removable. I suspose if you were a kid you might like this, but I didn't even like action features as a kid espeically if they weren't removable, and this one's not.
