Hi all,
Just started to sculpt my first head using ss. And might want to recast it when im finished. I know how to make a silicone mould. But was wondering what resin to use. Ive brought heads from ebay which are hard resin and feel brittle. But hot toys are more flexable. What are they made from? And what casing material do you recommend?

Thanks

Mass produced heads are made of vinyl. Custom heads are most often made of resin. The good thing about resin is it retains most if the detail.

There are several people on this board, myself included, that use a smooth on product called smooth cast 325. Its a translucent resin that can be tinted. Really nice for heads because it can be pre colored which makes for easier painting. You can use more transparent painting techniques so you're less likely to lose detail.
