I know of people who has modified, customized and repainted sideshow original and remake Leatherface. But don't recall one being done from scratch.

Search in the "Custom Creations" section. Gary23 has done a pretty amazing Leatherface and Choptop, from scratch, with plans to do more. He said when he has the time that he'd like to do all Leatherfaces from every movie. Not sure if that's changed or not. :)

I have the Mezco 12" Leatherface but Ive been thinking of picking up a HT Resident Evil Chainsaw Ganado and kinda kitbash myself a 12" Leatherface since the Mezco one has very limited articulation.

I'll be upgrading my Sideshow figure once I get the a Kaustic Plastic body. The overall figure is pretty nice, but the skinny buck arms just kill it.
The bodies are shipping now, so hopefully I'll get mine from BBTS soon

Looks great mate. What is it you actually did ?.
My collection is sorely lacking horror now.
Thanks bud.
I repainted the face.
weathered the shirt and pants.
repainted the arm gauntlets to make it look more like leather.
bloodied the apron, hands and chainsaw.
I bought this loose and I was originally gonna add some bulk to him as I've seen someone did that to their leatherface before but I believe the original owner already did that cause he does look more bulky compared to most of the leatherface pics that I've seen.
I am currently working on an end scene in black suit leatherface from the original! I will get some pictures up when completed!
Nice! looking forward to see it.

Thanks alot, sure is a complete new scupt but did go with sculpt hair which I think turned out perfect. the real hair just did not do it. Just got to finish making the chainsaw.
Here we have the 1/6th scaled 12" figure of Leatherface as he appeared at the end scene of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
The figure consists of:
Custom pieced together suit. Tie, Jacket, Shirt, Trousers and the shoes have been custom weathered
Hands painted with small custom bracelet
Hot Toys based custom with real sand
Headsculpt and hair fully sculpt and painted
For any one who might be intrested this figure is for sale so pm before it goes to ebay

Definitely should. You can find it really cheap on ebay.
With a little TLC the figure really shines.
And, Joel, your LF custom is pretty sweet. Always wanted Sideshow to do that version in 1/6 scale.

You're welcome, jerkface :)
There is a bit of work involved since LF has the sculpted neck. I guess you could take a couple different routes to make them compatible. I dremeled out the neck on the sculpt so it would fit over the muscle body neck. Easy enough though.
:hi5:
Very cool King D. big difference.
It is amazing how with a little TLC, these older SS figures still can hold its own.

King, So do you prefer the standard muscular body over using one of the bigger ones?
I had ear-marked one of my two Kaustic bodies for this project although I don't think Gunner's arms were as big as the Kaustic body.
In the end i plan on doing just what you did, swap the body, add some blood and call it a day.
King Darkness
06-28-2012, 11:38 PM
I think the standard muscle is more than mine for Leatherface. Gunnar wasn't built, but he was heafty. Seb used a T800 for his custom and that look pretty damn good. I used the standard because it was the more cost effective at the time. The guy had some fat forarms, so the larger body would work perfect too I think.

So, I think a Kaustic would be more than appropriate. Maybe to "muscular", but bulky enough for sure.

Yeah, I think I like the proportions of Seb's a bit better... I'm hoping the Kaustic will help out. But I agree he wasn't a body builder, but a tall dude with kind of a barrel shaped torso.
I actually have HT Muscular body I haven't used yet and 2 Kaustic's on the way. So I'll check out which one I like better in person. Yours looks kick *** though :rock

Got started on mine yesterday... I really like the HT body w/o the head, but once the head was on it looked a bit small to my eyes.
So I'll wait to bloody up the arms until I can see if I prefer the Kaustic or not. I did make a new smock for him though.

That looks a lot better. I'm doing a Punisher custom and I had it on the HT TTM19 body. It looked good too without the head and once I put the head on it it looked undersize. This Kaustic Body although larger than what a Thomas Punisher would look like I think it looks overall better.

Thanks guys. I hope to make a collection thread in the future Fiend. Right now there's alot of blank spots here and there. I also need a new camera, as you can probably tell. :lol
For sure going to throw some blood on him. I'm hoping to see if I can stitch around the plastic "sheeting" to make it feel more legitimate. Not sure how a sowing machine and this material will get along though.

Time to weather the s**t out of it:)

That body is more expensive than the Kaustic ones. You can still pre-order some on various sites for around $35 to $45 depeding on where.

Patience. That body will give you nothing but trouble trying to get him to grip the chainsaw. There're more Kaustic bodies on the way and should be out late Oct/early Nov.

Thanks for the advice might go another route and use the original body with some rubber sleeves, don't want to spend out any more money if I can help it:).

Not to mention the ACI body is not much taller than a standard body... where as the KP is noticeably bulkier and taller; definitely a better fit for Leatherface.

Thats a good price but by the time they are shipped here I'm still looking around the same price as the andrew.
Will hold off untill I see some pop up on ebay and concentrate on the apron and rest of the weathering.
Gunna watch the film again for reference on the apron and his outfit but it is originally a plastic/vinyl apron right?

Yeah was checking out your video and think that's the way I'll go with mine unless I can find some thin yellow vinyl.
Was just watching the trailer and flicking through the film aswell, it's a sad reflection that the first time I saw the film it shocked me and now it just makes me laugh:)
Still chilling but you know what I mean, is quite funny:)

Was thinking maybe instead of changing out the apron I might coat it in rubber glue then paint and seal that and see what it looks like to give the texture of vinyl.

In all honesty, I would work on that mouth a little more and hair it up completely before showing pics and offering up sculpts. I would also suggest fattening up the face a little more. His face looks a little too long and thin. It is very hard to imagine him looking complete with the unfinished hair. He has muppet hair in your pics. I am not saying this to mean or insult your work. I can see where you are going with it and it has potential. However I don't think people will sign up and pay for something that you are not showing in all it's glory.
Just my opinion and I wish you luck. I think with a little more work you can have something really great here. :peace

Went ahead and modded the apron to be more film accurate.
Firstly used copydex fabric glue on the apron.
Secondly went over with a mixture 50/50 glue and yellow paint.
Third gave it and the straps a wash of brown paint and water.
Pretty happy with the result.
There are some lumpy bits of glue but am goiing to flick more blood on the apron and clothing and the lumpy bits will be congealed blood,,mm tasty:)
Had a go putting rubber sleeves on the body but they looked horrible even after a repaint, so am gunna go with a kaustic when I can.
The rubber glue mod is really good, has a nice texture to it on the fabric, is flexable still and gives a wet vinyl look.

Thanks, yes first I painted a layer of clear rubber fabric glue.
Then I mixed it 50/50 paint to glue and applied that to get the yellow.
Then got some red and black paint mix and applied with fingers, brush and toothbrush to get the blood splatters/spray effect.
Glad you like;)

I just want to set the record straight and say that my comments were to be taken as constructive criticism. I wasn't making a joke at Adam's expense to try and get a laugh. I used the muppet hair comment as a visual to describe what I thought it reminded me of. I'm sorry if others took the ball and ran with that. If you read my entire post I was stating that it had potential and it needed more work. I wasn't trying to flame it.
With that being said, we all know how this site is. Yes people get blunt and sometimes down right rude. However that is the name of the game here. When you put your work out there for all to see, then you have to accept the feedback especially when he is trying to sell these.
Adam, keep working at it. You will get better with practice. We all have to start somewhere. Take what people said, and make adjustments. More importantly, have fun with the hobby and don't take these comments too seriously at the end of the day.
:goodpost:
Really try to take what people say arund here like a grain of salt. At least if it becomes rude, discouraging etc. But as far as constructive criticism, take it and run with it. Keep at it and post more, I love diversity. I'm new to modding my figures too. :)

It is important to have a bit of a thick skin whenever you post a work... but also nice for people to have a bit of a tact as well. I know some of the comments I got when I first posted some early sculpts were semi-harsh (if not also accurate as my work was not very good). But that's the nature of a message board so sometimes filtering it out for the constructive bits will help lessen the sting.

I used the original apron and just modded it and it came out great.
Others have made their own using pvc and you might even get some for yours if you check back some previous posts;)
Yours is looking good, needs a few meals to fatten him up:)
Like the severed head, nice touch, just need a bloody pale to stick it in:)

Looking good!! :clap I modded the apron as well. If you go back a couple of pages you will see that I just re-worked the apron it came with and in person I am happy with it. Also one comment about yours.....I would recommend poofing up his hair a bit. I think it looks a little too styled like he combed it to be parted to the side or something.
Other than that, he is coming along great.

Thanks for the comments guys I'm going to try to mod the apron and for the hair the guy I bought my reg SS leatherface from must of used glue or something in his hair because it don't move very much very stiff thinking of trying to just rehair it to give it that crazy curly black hair look I appreciate the feedback guys he is still a work in progress

Yeah the SS does come like that with the stiff hair look you mentioned. However like others have said, yours looks slightly more patted down or something. Take a look at one of my pics again. You can see that the hair is messier even though it is SS stock. I think I futzed it a little to mess it up more

I think SS did a damn good job on the sculpt personally. I know it's Texas Chainsaw Massacre but I prefer this one displayed with that big *** hammer he came with.

The painted lady is not my favourite Chainsaw look, but these customs sure are creepy. I'm fine with the idea of owning a Jason, but don't know if I'd want this thing staring at me everyday. I'd probably end-up putting a sheet over the detolf half the time. :lol

I love the lady chainsaw look! Even with the rude chin :lol:lol
I seen this movie as a child (Bad parents :lol kidding lol) But that is the look that stuck in my mind whenever I heard the film mentioned, the tantrum he throws at the end swinging the chainsaw around. Love it :)
That sculpt is real nice too man great paint job :clap

Yeah, have to say that is one of my favourite horror movie scenes of all time (end of Texas Chainsaw) and I can imagine how this look would become ingrained in a child's imagination (for me and a friend it was Friday the 13th -- didn't see the original Texas Chainsaw until I was in my 30s). In a way, the whole cross-dressing thing is almost too effective, in terms of being disturbing. I prefer the more vengeful, masculine look but that's not taking anything away from this version.

here is my take on leatherface from texas chainsaw massacre 2.
his face is my take on what it would look like, obviously he was never unmasked in the movie so i just came up with something myself
i know the hair isnt movie accurate but its really hard to make curly boofy hair so this is the best i could do
the rubber mask is made by hush
over all im pretty happy with it

Ahh mate that leatherface is off the hook elvis:)
I knew it would be good but that is making me angry its so good.
The boots are cool and the fat hands and details like the bracelet are too much to take in.
Where how?
I know thats the sideshow shirt and tie and chainsaw but the boots and hands?
I love to hate you.
You always go the extra mile:)
Personally I prefer this look to the version I have.
More iconic imo.

I didn't used anything from the ss figs.
Shirt was bought on ebay and the tie was just a black tie. I painted the pattern on it.
The pants comes from the DAM toys spade figure and the boots from the dam zombieland figure.
Jacket is from ss frankenstein dye in black and weathered.
