View Full Version : Hot Toys Destroyer - Is it a Possibilty?

Now that we know Hot Toys are well into developing Hulk, and have already made Iron Monger, who thinks they should go back and create a 1/6th Destroyer from Thor after they have completed the Avengers line? That thing was bad ass, and would have some awesome shelf presence. We know Hot Toys can make it, so why the hell not?

(Sorry if there has already been a thread made about this)

A Hot Toys Destroyer is something I'd really like to see, and would look great on a villains shelf. It would look also with a head with a light up open face. I feel like not releasing him leaves a large gap in my Thor collection (along with other missing characters). Do Hot Toys normally revisit licenses once they have moved past the initial releases?

A minion, probably they wont
They'll have too much on their plate even after the avengers

I like to have one though, but I wont pay over $200 for this

I doubt this, there's so many other figures from this movie they could do first (Warriors 3, Heimdall, that Loki they promised us, Sif [please God give us a Sif!!]). But I'd love to see them tackle this, if not for the awesome figure then for the engineering involved. Think they could do something spectacular with it.

But at the rate that we're demanding Marvel figures from them HT will end up unable to do anything else. :dunno

I can see them eventually working on Destroyer, after all Iron Monger is coming out 4-5 years after the movie he appeared in was released. Abigail Whistler was a similar scenario.

There is always a possibility that Destroyer will be in a Thor sequel too. Personally, I'd rather see a HT Heimdall!

Yeah, the Iron Monger point is good. Hopefully we get Heimdall from Thor 2.

Avengers related..
I think the closest we'll get to the Destroyer anytime is if Hot Toys releases an Agent Coulson with the Destroyer gun.

I'd love a Destroyer but unless it appears in Thor 2 (doubtful) I doubt Hot Toys will revist the Thor license again, I mean if they can't get a Loki out from that film what chance this? :(

I'd never say never at this point. Frankly, I'd be okay with him coming out in 2014 after having to buy Iron Monger and the Hulk within the same 12 month period! :)

Another wallet buster, but yes, absolutely I'd buy that ;)

I would prefere to see a laufey ice giant done before this, but would still welcome it. Though I don't it. If we do get anything from thor again it will be loki and strecthing it would be to ask for Heimdall or one of the warriors three.

If they made it, the damn thing better light up.

I think it'd be an ideal project for Sideshow instead of Hot Toys. Only thing similar to this for HT is Iron Monger... And let's face it... Iron Monger being Iron Man related is a guaranteed pot of gold. With Sideshow letting HT use their Star Wars license, it'd be nice to see HT reciprocate. Especially for figures they'd never do since they have too many licenses.

SSC already released some maquette and it was pretty much 1/6 IMM0.
Tho I don't like how their "standart paint apps" turned out. And that the light-up feature... just totall crap.

Would be great if they do but my money is against it.

With the lines it has, I think the joints would break my deal.

200? haha By the time it was announced, you'd probably have to pay over $1000.

Not a probable release though.

I don't think they'll make it. Too big and expensive for people to buy in the numbers that Hot Toys would want to sell.

I agree. The fluid nature would be ruined with cut lines. I thought it would be great to do a pvc statue in scale with the HT figures. Chromed, hollow and with internal lighting would look like the film. They could do this for what I guess at less then $150.

A lot of the points against this being made were also made when there was speculation and thought of a Iron Monger figure. He was eventually made, so i don't see why this cant be.

Ultimately if this was made, i could see Hot Toys somehow making the articulation blend in with the fluid lines on the character. Yes the lines wouldn't be entirely accurate, but since when have Hot Toys been 100% accurate anyway. It could come with alternate light up heads, and even the casket of winters (It was 'guarding' it during the film).

Also the character appears in many pivotal points in the film, almost kills Thor and is overall bad-ass. They revisit licenses all the time if they are still relevantly popular eg - Ironman 1, AVP, Terminator, Predator 1/2/3 etc.

Also yes, it could reappear in Thor 2

So far Iron Monger > Destroyer.
As a character and as a figure.

I have never read the Thor comics. Is the Destroyer just a single entity or are there more like him/her/it? If the Destroyer never makes a film appearance, I can see HT only seriously consider it after an Armored Whiplash gets released.

I see this completely differently, I see the various rings that make up the armour as an opportunity to engineer the articulation completely differently while maintaining the look from the movie. If they put 10% of the work into this they put into the Iron Man figures it could be spectacular. Add to that the scope for putting light-up features in the chest and head, flame effects for the face beams like in the Ghost Rider or the Mk I v 2.0, this could be an epic figure.

Of all the individual Marvel movies I'd most like to see supporting characters from Thor than any other. Here's hoping...

Any chance would revolve around Thor 2. When the movie hits, they'll be enough hype around it to release one or two more Thor 1 characters. Who knows how long it would take them to produce it but it probably won't happen outside of the Thor 2 hype machine.

Would be a very cool figure if they could pull it off.

Looking at thors arms i was thinking maybe they could make the destroyers joints like that.
Or maybe with the new die cast line they could figure a way to make this happen.
Hes at the top of my most wanted list.

Heimdall would be sweet too! I was surprised when he wasn't made with the initial film's figures.
