Since Harry Potter I've been less snooty about Young Adult fiction and I've enjoyed The Hunger Games and some other series.
I read about this series getting picked up by a studio for movies and it intrigued me because they hired Charlie Kaufman to do the adaptation. If you know Kaufman then hiring him to adapt a book seems crazy - the last one turned out as a work of genius (Adaptation, from the novel The Orchid Thief) - but if you want to satisfy the readers of the series, he certainly is a strange choice.
But the book series is very well done and feels a lot like Hunger Games. A teenager who seems like a cog in a corrupt system. I'm only on book 2, but I have to guess that it will have a similar outcome as Hunger Games as well.
