What a random movie to make high end 1/6 scale figures from. But totally cool.

it's not as random as you think, the robots in Real Steel were made by Legacy effects which pretty much guarantees high end collectables these days. Atom will fit in nicely with all the other Legacy robotic stuff like T-800, Aliens Power Loader, Avatar Mech suit, Iron man suit, etc... I'm really excited to see how the 3A figure comes out.

I liked this flick, too bad it didnt do better with the critics with kinda mixed reviews. I figured this movie was geared towards toy sales, sort of based on the idea of rock'em sock'em robots. Awesome looking toys from 3A, pretty random choice of things to make but it kind of makes sense that 3A be making these.

Ambush was $290 shipped worldwide (EMS shipping) from Bambaland (or $246,5 with threeA membership). Retailers will have him for around $330 preshipped.
1/6 scale, around 42 cm (16,5 inches) tall. Extremely detailed and fully articulated. Light-up eyes.
Rest of the gang should be pretty much the same price/size/feature-wise.

Yep. He was available from 17th of aprill till like 21st or smth like that. Bambaland version also comes with exclusive bot-controller.

http://www.threeaonline.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/ambushcontroller.jpg

Bamba is the best way to go with threeA products, especially when it comes to international orders.
With threeA membership I got Ambush for $246,5 shipped via EMS, which makes figure itself like $160-170 preshipped for me, since I'm in Russia and EMS shipping from HK to me is very expensive (I presume the package weight will be around 3-4 kg). It's a real steal for a figure with such an amazing details, paint-apps & articulation. I was ready to pay smth in $350 shipped range.
I don't like the movie (for me it's like a mediocre mix of Rocky + Over the Top + some scenes using the Puss in Boots hypnosis technique), but the robots was extremely well done. Love them all (except for Zeus).

Incredibly complex. If they nail this it will be one of the most impressive 1/6 figures I am sure.

I really hope they can nail that weathering/battered steel look!

Also really hoping they manage to pull off the lighting. Would be amazing if they can somehow include that rotary mechanism in the head :rock

We have confirmation that Noisy Boy and Atom are next. I hope they do Noisy Boy first as I plan to buy all Real Steel mechs EXCEPT Atom. Would be kind of lame to have to skip out on the next release. Generally speaking, Noisy Boy seems to be the most wanted design so they should try to do him as soon as possible to keep interest in the line.

EDIT: I am hoping that what ThreeA does is keep a consistent and steady release of these for the next year or two. Midas dropped the month Ambush shipped so assuming Midas will ship in December, I hope Noisy Boy goes up then and then Atom in March or April.

I can understand that. He was rather dull in design compared to the others. But that's what added to his persona as the underdog which is also why I further taken a liking to him too.

when i saw the film i thought noisy boy is familiar(basically gigantor with samurai dome). familiar in design n cliched in concept. a samurai bot with big bold kanji? sounds like something a high schooler would thought up.

but i thought atom has lame design in the film as well. until i saw that threeA proto. just look at the detailing on the legs alone. in film, atom moves a lot/or the camera moves a lot, so you cant truly appreciate details like that. but here in toy form it's really amazing.

so, i dont know... didnt care about ambush's design in the film, but the toy made me go ga-ga(the pistons and the rusted metal look sold it for me). midas is sleeker in design, but... i dont know, i'm partial to more pistons. zeus will be too shiny for my taste, and i dont care about its gorilla look.

so for now, it's a toss up between ambush, midas, and atom. i need to pick only one and it's a real toughie.

you're a better man if you can decide so easily:

that's the robot design.

the only bot that was well proportioned(limb-torso) was Midas, IMO.

Still haven't seen the movie but these look amazing.

I said it in the Midas thread, but I'll say it again here. This company needs to get the license for Pacific Rim.

A bit of info from me about Real Steel: Atom, which will be offered for pre-order at Bambalandstore on April 14th, 9:00AM Hong Kong time.

There is a bit of confusion from people, who are just discovering threeA. Bambalandstore exclusive version means that it’s exclusive to Bambalandstore and will not be offered anywhere else, please don’t confuse it with 3AA exclusives – which are for 3AA members only.

So Real Steel: Atom Bambalandstore version is coming with 1/6th scale controller and everyone can buy it on April 14th at our official online store: www.bambalandstore.com

Retail version of Real Steel: Atom will be offered via our retailers and will not come with the controller mentioned above.

Atom price is 320USD with shipping included in the price.

See you at the store!

Exclusive comes with the Remote.

very nice review! thanks for the vids showing the articulation. I'm debating about this one and one thing I've been wondering about is if I'd accidentally break one of the joints by trying to pose it

Hey guys,

Thought I'd let you all know my review of the Real Steel Atom pre-release sample that ThreeA Toys was nice enough to send us is live on CollectionDX.com. There's a run down of all the features, some porny shots of the articulation, and some comparisons with previous Atom figures and 3A's previously released Real Steel Ambush!

Check out the review on CollectionDX.com! (http://www.collectiondx.com/toy_review/threea_real_steel_atom)

I had an error with the video review upload, so that is still processing. I'll post a link directly to the video when it is live later today.

Thanks for reading!

Real Steel is on TV right now. Just watched the final fight between Atom and Zeus.

Such a great scene, i don't know what it is about underdog scene but it had made tearing up and smiling.
