Good for those who miss the first release. I have the original and shall give this a pass. Not that I think it's no good though. I just believe its a better idea to use that money to get the Samurai Predator I have been considering. 2 different predators in my collection is better than 2 piece of the same or similar predator.

I don't see any reuse except for the weapons, trophy, and maybe the medical kit. The rebreather too, but they're using metal wiring on it which is nice.

All of the armor looks brand-new (minus the parts we already saw on the Shadow Predator, but those were fresh sculpts as well).

Upon close inspection of the close-ups, it would appear the unmasked headsculpt is also entirely new. Not even the mandibles were reused from Shadow, because this one has those ridges at the base of the teeth. They only have the same general shape as Shadow's, which is a bit of a bummer, but that's the only minor gripe I have about this guy.

I have the original Predator 2 and Battle Damaged version.
This is clearly a poor rehash.
The head sculpt and accessories are lacking and worse than the originals.

Sure would've been nice to have him earlier, but I might forget about that if Sideshow has an exclusive... :D Doubt they will, though. I'm happy with how the biohelmet turned out, too. I know it's not totally accurate, but for some reason I've always liked HT's rounded/perfected take on this particular design. There are some production shots from the film where P2's noggin protection looks downright unappealing.

Um... where are his knee joints? I noticed they accurized the kneepads and got rid of the strap (which is why the new bodies are so awesome, though they didn't do this on Shadow; I think they rushed that one), which drew my attention to the lack of joints there.

The upper mandibles are spot-on, it's those lower ones. They're just a little too big and a little too open. I guess they wanted to keep the half-open look from Classic and Shadow. Meh... at least it looks good. I'm really not a fan of how Classic and Shadow look with closed mandibles, but P2 can rock his inaccuracies.

I think for anyone with the first release this looks like an easy pass. A nice dio would've sealed the deal or at least something new, although the medkit is nice. The body and paint look great but that head sculpt doesn't excite me the same way the first one did when i saw it.

Well, after spending months working on my custom I think Hot Toys have done a very good job. It doesn't have that purple tint the old one did, the armour doesn't look too bulky at the wrists and waist like the old one, and they have put detail like the bone over the left bag etc.
The spear also looks like they have spent some time applying detail too, and it contains an accurate mask and other battle damaged accessories.
I will be getting a few pieces to upgrade my custom once people part it out.

People were doing that with their Berserker Predator, so I don't see why not. You'd need to heat them up fairly well though; since the meaty parts don't extend as far out as 'Zerker's, the plastic will have to be hot enough to bend the cheek flaps. It's basically a repositioning of the entire piece, so you'll need to be careful not to warp the base of the mandibles where they connect to the face.

Hell yeah! I'm glad to see them remaking the City Hunter. I never picked up an original P2 figure in the hopes they would revisit him in the future. I'm just happy HT went with 1/6 and not a damn 1/4 Predator on this one. Will be picking this up for sure but I agree the mask and sculpt need a little bit of work.

I DO have to admit that I didn´t see the movie in quite a while, but still...even with your screencap...the mandibles look accurate, when you think of´em imagined in a half opened look...it look´s great and the P2, completely closed...looks squashed...just my 2 cents.

I wouldnt worry about that too much. Hot Toys Bio pics quite often are hammered but upon release are smooth. I remember hating Berserker's proto mask pics because it was like this P2 mask but when it came out it was smooth.

i think it's great that new collectors have the opportunity to buy a new 1/6 scale predator 2 ,it's been already a bunch of years that hot toys released their first p2 so i don't see anything wrong about revisiting such a great character and although the articulation on these new pred bodies are not as good as on the old ones i still think these new figures look much better than the original ones

Paint job looks amazing, even more detailed than the Classic! Not sure if I'll get this or not, on one hand the extra accessories this comes with over the Classic could make this a nice alternative but on the other no King Willie decapitated head :(

I really like this, but as with the Terminator I may hold out until I see what 1/4 scale stuff from Hot Toys will look like.. I have many HT 1/6 but would love to go 1/4 with Pred, Terminator and Batman. I guess SDCC will have some amazing eye candy from HT this year....I hope!

I agree. Its like an ego thing. And half the time the whine is because they've had to buy their figure on the 2nd hand market because they missed it first time originally anyway. If they had of waited for a new figure they would of been ohhh yeyyy! And even now, if they are on here enough to whinge about it then they are clearly informed enough to realize that they have an advantage over the unsuspecting ebayer who does not know of new release coming yet. So they can "get their value" by ebaying it and then buying the new one and having a better product and profit. I've got the original scar predator, ive spent hours modding it and ive bought extra's for it. All of which will not make any difference once the new Scar Figure comes out. But i dont mind, ive had the privileged of owning Scar all this time.

Given what you just showed me, I find that the original HT P2 release had a more accurate mandible and still sticking with that fact that the TD P2 bio is still way more movie accurate. Maybe I can do a hybrids mod using the old P2 head and install the shorter dreads onto it and putting it onto the new body?

Some quick thoughts:

1. The masked head was bothering me but maybe that's because it's slightly oversized. I'd rather it be oversized than small like the Super Preds heads though.

2. The mask deffo needs to be smoothed out during production. It's too textured. Hopefully they fix the mask later on like they did when they changed Classics mask and Berserkers mandibles.

3. In regards to the unmasked head everything from the top mandibles up looks great. The lower mandibles really lets the figure down. In the film P2 had cool closed mandibles.

4. Those standard Hot Toys bases must be thrown away. For the price we are paying for figures these days, which in themselves are a work of art as such, they need to be displayed and presented on a much better looking base.

Yes the only glaring flaw is the close mandibles, the lower tusks should go behind the upper tusks. Pred 2 had a very distinct looking face which made him unique.

And the Bio Mask has the wrong texture. Other than that it looks really impressive even tho no Dio base.

First off, either they got a new photographer or the one they normally have was having an off day, because normally their "official photos" are much better than these.

With the helmet on this guy looks great. But the face is all kinds of wrong. So often monster sculpts get a free pass because we're not as privy to the subtleties of non-human faces, but if this were a human sculpt it'd be as off as a Brad Pitt sculpt that looks like George Clooney. When I look at this face I think, "who is that supposed to be?". As someone else pointed out, the "nose" area is way too long, and I think the inner teeth and eyes seem off as well. And as has been mentioned, the mandibles are completely out of character.

Recycling parts is annoying, but recycling the same mistakes they made with the original release is downright frustrating. The way the blades extend is still wrong (their retracted position should be their extended position, with the real retracted position being all the way inside the box), the canon is still way too small and I can't believe they still fastened it to the body with that stupid pole they copied from the McFarlane Predator 2 figure so long ago.

Also disappointing is the lack of accessories; I really thought they could have gone above and beyond for this figure, especially with it being a remake. Instead, it's just the same stuff the original came with, most of it literally the same stuff.

On the plus side the paint application and body/armor looks really good. If the price isn't outrageously north of $200 I'll likely take a wait and see with this one, in hopes that the final release sees some major improvements. That's really disappointing considering this was my most-anticipated new figure of the year.

Anyone has any idea why the sculptor is no longer Pan Mak (if I'm not wrong he's the P1, Elder and P2 sculptor)? I wonder if Joseph Tsang does them inacurate on purpose as his interpretation or simply it's the best he can do. I got really excited when I saw the pics, but post after post I lost a bit that excitement as now the inaccuracies are too evident. But I think still it looks amazing and I want it, but the first P2, although with inferior paint, is more accurate in the head and mask.

Looks pretty good imo. I'm just not sure why they decided to make the crusted barnacle looking mask. Weird. Hope that changes.

Also I'm not loving the "half" closed mouth. Really like the look of the closed mouth in the movie and this just does nothing to capture that. Same rehash head as classic and shadow is laziness on their part. Now everyone's preds will look identical.

Don't know if I'll get this. Trying to cut down on HT and the inaccuracies will make it easier to pass. Nothing on this screams must have.

Yes, they used the base design of what they've already used on the Classic and Shadow, but it had to be re-sculpted.

Also those wrist blades look dangerously close to the hand, he is gonna cut himself, that was one of the parts I hated about the original and now it is here again.

First off, either they got a new photographer or the one they normally have was having an off day, because normally their "official photos" are much better than these.

With the helmet on this guy looks great. But the face is all kinds of wrong. So often monster sculpts get a free pass because we're not as privy to the subtleties of non-human faces, but if this were a human sculpt it'd be as off as a Brad Pitt sculpt that looks like George Clooney. When I look at this face I think, "who is that supposed to be?". As someone else pointed out, the "nose" area is way too long, and I think the inner teeth and eyes seem off as well. And as has been mentioned, the mandibles are completely out of character.

Recycling parts is annoying, but recycling the same mistakes they made with the original release is downright frustrating. The way the blades extend is still wrong (their retracted position should be their extended position, with the real retracted position being all the way inside the box), the canon is still way too small and I can't believe they still fastened it to the body with that stupid pole they copied from the McFarlane Predator 2 figure so long ago.

Also disappointing is the lack of accessories; I really thought they could have gone above and beyond for this figure, especially with it being a remake. Instead, it's just the same stuff the original came with, most of it literally the same stuff.

On the plus side the paint application and body/armor looks really good. If the price isn't outrageously north of $200 I'll likely take a wait and see with this one, in hopes that the final release sees some major improvements. That's really disappointing considering this was my most-anticipated new figure of the year.

Well put. This was the first figure of the new Hot Toys Predator revolution. Overall it looks good but it hasn't blown us away in every department which I was hoping Hot Toys would do with the new Preds.

I'm not sure how I feel about this guy. Certainly underwhelmed was my first gut feeling. I hate how he only has 2 left hand options. How are you supposed to hold anything with either a fist or a flat hand? Even in the picture it looks retarded how he holds the skull, breather, etc. They are forcing the objects into the hand.

I do love the paint though. Definitely not what I was expecting...least we have NECA to save us with their 18 incher ;)
