So all the delay of product releases were in part due to reissuing Mk. VI in time for the movie....

They did not bother to even re-sculpt an accurate Chest repulsor:

I almost folded in getting a Mark VI to go with WM. The secondary price hovers a little above what I am willing to pay. This comes as a pleasant surprised since it comes with the TS head (which is a plus from Mark IV). Guess I could be the only one rejoicing with this "reissue".

They must have, that's why the categorical specially repainted and finished statement. :dunno

So, other than the specially repainted and finished bull and the Light-up Avengers stand, there's nothing else? The price for this shouldn't be more than the original. In fact, it should be lesser as there won't be any BD parts, generic movie logo stand or the damaged navy drone one, helmet with removable mask, etc. The scalpers will surely be pissed off though. And for those feeling that they'll be deprived of Mech test Tony sculpt, now, I am pretty sure the specially repainted and finished Mech Test is next in the line to be announced, maybe after Mark VII.

You can still get this new one, and then buy only the BD parts from someone here. Of course, if it makes that $$ sense. I have seen a lot of people selling the BD parts for Mark VI.

EDIT: If only the new figure offers the feature to change parts (which it should, I hope).

Dave_W

When you remove the BD parts, are there details underneath, like the chest piece or it is just empty? I think if the new one do not have switchable parts then, they are most probably glued.

We will definitely get a new armor, question is....when? Hopefully it will be out for me to decide to get new Mark VI or Mark VII. One thing that worries me with the Mark VII design is the torso. With reference to Kotobukiya Mark VII, the torso area looks flush, a lot like Mark III. If Hottoys use the same technique like Mark III's rubber torso, then I do not want it.

Thought I'll never say this about an HT IM figure. I have no interest in this release. I already have enough Marks in my collection. My thoughts precisely and hence I stopped after ordering Luke. Their product is definitely losing aura in my books, becoming quite a commodity.

There is no need to preorder anymore, they may even show up in Walmart or Toys R Us one of these days. If that's where they are going, they should at least make them more durable...Ha, as if.

That looks amazing. It also appears to have suitable bulk to it considering its a man inside a suit of armour. Haven't been keeping track of the Iron Man figures so maybe previous figures have been like that aswell..I know the original Mark III was too skinny.

So the Joint Promo is the Mark VI with the Mech Test Head and a light up base. The Movie Promo is sort of a con exclusivish kind of thing (I'm sure SSC will import some) with the Mark IV head on the VI body, an Avengers base with no BD parts. Both look to be repainted to take away the subtle dings and scratches that the original had except by the legs.

That's it in a nutshell right?

Sounds like that's it to me.

Not too concerned about this...Already have 2 MARK VI figures from IM2, one displayed battle-damaged, and one with the clean panels and an extra MARK IV Tony sculpt I got from Ebay...so aside from this being a bit 'cleaner' without the dings, I pretty much have this figure already...so don't really need to care about it. :monkey1

Besides, the one with the light-up Avengers stand is limited to only 16, so there's no way I'd score that!

There's a lot of hate for this on their Facebook page, and I see it's continuing here. I don't get it? If you don't like it,don't buy it. There's no use in complaining,Hot Toys won't listen. I'm not buying any different Avenger version of Cap,Iron Man,Thor or Black Widow because I have them in one way or the other. The only Avengers I'm getting are the ones that aren't a figure already, Fury,Hawkeye and Hulk.

:exactly: :goodpost:

I only believe of having one of each character, not 20 different versions of the same one unless you're a huge fan of that particular one. And the antagonizing sarcasm from some are unbelievable. They need to chill and play nice otherwise go somewhere else and play by yourself :pigfly:

For me, it really depends on how you plan to display everything. For instance, I will have 2 Thor's and maybe 3 Cap's (I plan to display the THOR movie Thor, Odin and Loki on one shelf, and Avengers THOR with the rest of the Avengers team...Same thing with Cap, Cap movie Hero and USO with Red Skull, Avengers Cap with the rest of the team)

I do have to admit that I have gotten caught up in all the Iron Man Mark releases, so I 'may' have too many Iron Man's on the shelf...if you really can have too many. Pass on the Avengers Mark VI though since I have the IM2 Mark VI. In for the Mark VII though! :hi5:

Why would they advertise a figure with an edition size of 16? It's like kicking their loyal fans in the d!ck.
Want it?
To bad can't have it.
Before I started buying HT I read on the boards here so many peeps speaking with such authority and certainty that HT knows better then to reissue or redo popular figures. They wouldn't do that to their fans.
:)
So when I see HT releasing figures that are $300 + at initial retail I just laugh. A fool and their money are soon parted.

I doubt this version if made available through retailers will be that difficult to get. There are ton scoffing at it and other diehard IM completists I don't think you'll get that many running for it save a few who missed out on the VI and the usual round of scalpers hoping it goes for a mint in eBay.

The 16 pcs version will probably be difficult to get as I guarantee you they almost all end up on eBay but it looks like the Kevin Flynn Tron base with a faceplate change, I'm sure someone will make one themselves soon enough.

In and of itself they seem to have too much stuff on their plate to keep up with the release times that have been set for their figures and stuff has been delayed excessively. Jack Sully and Sam Flynn are a couple of the most apparent examples.

Even if this figure hasn't directly caused the delay of stuff previously pre-ordered, I can still understand the frustration of fans that have been waiting through multiple delays for something to come out when announcements like this are scheduled to be out around the time of Avengers being released in theaters.

I personally am pretty patient and it doesn't bother me, but I still can see where others are coming from when they complain about it.

Personally I'm not someone who's that bothered about delays, as long as the product comes out eventually that's the main thing and afterall it's not like and death if a figure is delayed is it? I'd like to get the Sucker Punch Babydoll figure and maybe even the Jake Sully but they'll get here when they get here. If I had any gripe with Hot Toys it's that it must be getting on for 6 months now since we saw Loki and USO Captain America in milk magazine and official specs have still not been released, that's far more concerning for me....

On the subject of this figure though given it's a straight forward re-issue to a very limited number I cant see this figure impacting much on current pre-ordered not like the new DX10 possibly could.

They're actually releasing a figure that is seen in the Avengers movie for anyone who still wants the Mark VI, and missed it the first time around. They are also NOT offering anything new that would force COMPLETIONISTS to consider getting this release. This will help Hot Toys make some money to add back to their R&D and develop some new toys.

Remember Hot Toys is still a BUSINESS, and these cash cows (Iron Man, Batman, Predator, Terminator, etc.) will help us get figures for the box office bombs (Sucker Punch, Tron, etc.), that they'll lose money or break even on.

Well they have to buy the license before the movies come out. They announced the Green Lantern and Sucker Punch licenses before the movie came. Those movies kinda bombed, so the demand for those toys will probably be lower than Hot Toys expected. They will still release those figures, but probably break even on them.

They mentioned in an interview that the Jack Nicholson license was expensive, so they were going to release multiply Jokers to get the most out of the cost.

Just saying, Hot Toys is in a business to make money as much as we think it's purely "for the art."

Last year when HT released the Demon Bat/Scarecrow set (and the predator and something else i don't recall) one dude had actually hired 200+ people to buy a set each for him, so he could sell them on the secondary market for a profit. EDIT: That's him there ^

If You were a business owner and could put out a product that you know will make money, once, twice or ten times, you'd be a fool to not do it. And if they go to the well one too many times, they'll pay the price. But clearly, that's not now.

Think about this, though. If resellers/flippers are buying this because they think it's something they can make money off of because it's limited, and they think they can sell it to collectors at a big markup and it doesn't sell, these types of releases aren't really going to fly with anybody anymore. Scalpers won't want to buy them anymore because they can't make a profit off of it and collectors aren't going to buy it because they already had a chance to own it three times already and the market will be flooded with a boat load of minor variations of the same character.

I'm willing to bet at least half of those people are in line just so they can flip it on ebay/elsewhere.

Last year when HT released the Demon Bat/Scarecrow set (and the predator and something else i don't recall) one dude had actually hired 200+ people to buy a set each for him, so he could sell them on the secondary market for a profit. EDIT: That's him there ^

He ended up losing money because the set dropped in value :lol

So moral of the story - those long lines don't mean squat

Actually the demon bats/scarecrow was an online exclusives that were PO online for HT VIPs, and later released for the general public for HK residents only.

That dude scalp the 2011 exclusives, which were the Iron man mark IV secret project, batman begins Bruce Wayne and shadow predator. I'm sure he made profit from selling just the batman and ironman alone.

Any pricing on these yet?

There are a few on eBay at the mo, however, they're going for pretty much the same price as the Irin Man 2 Mark VI

Despite having less accessories. I'm guessing people know that if someone wants a Mark VI, they can still charge them high prices despite it being a new release, i also think the limited run has a part to play, if this were a mass run available on Sideshow, then the eBay folk couldnt charge what they wanted

That sounds more in line with it ending up as a con exclusive then for Sideshow. I think HT usually has a con in June and then Sideshow at SDCC in July. So I'm betting thats the case instead of another silly thing from HT this year.

It's disturbing how hot toys is already making a big dead about an edition size of 3000

Hot Toys is now actually admitting their other figures are not so limited :lol
That happened with the 10th Anniversary figures, as well. 4,000 and listed as limited exclusives.

One thing that kind of bothers me about this is re-releasing that Mark IV Tony head again. This will be the 3rd figure to have it, as if HT think it's so great that every other Iron Man deserves it. Yet, it's not very good IMO. Mech Test sculpt is better, but not by too much. I guess folks still want to buy it, and that's what really matters. But without the glasses he's just seņior Tony.

I think Sideshow will have this. Why wouldn't Hot Toys attempt to sell the figure here? North America is where the Avengers stories were originally created, where the comics were produced, where the series take place. It's also where the new movie was produced, where the movie takes place. We grew up with that stuff! We ARE the biggest market for these toys, don't let anybody tell you otherwise. North America should be getting at least 1500 of these figures.

Probably been asked a thousand times, but is this expected to be the sole Iron Man announcement prior to The Avengers release? Hot Toys promised to reveal the entire line-up by the May 4th release date, and the only way I see that being possible is if this limited edition Mark VI counts. There's Thor, Black Widow and Hulk left with two weeks to go.

Just 3 days + (or less to go in Hong Kong)... They stated they will reveal more Avengers (not all).... Hawkeye & Cap. (& Thor) is that definition of More.

Safe to say, no Mk. VII before April 26... or maybe not even 4 May... till HT's digital CAD/sculptors/designers seen the suit in action in the movie.

Following the well-received Nick Fury collectible, another Avenger is coming very soon! Guess who comes next?

I don't think HT promised to reveal the entire line by may 4. Read back a bit to find the post. But I think it says something like, they will be making all the characters and expect announcements before the film is released.

You're thinking of the Mark 7, this is the 6. They'll definatley do the Mark 7 was the standard release. This is a limited, rehash, cash grab release of the Mark 6 with Mark 4 unmasked head (Mech Test head if you are one of the lucky 16 winners in a contest).
