My job allows me to listen to headphones all day, so instead of just listening to the same old crap on the ipod, I, and most of my coworkers listen to audiobooks instead. I can't even count the number of books I've 'read' over the last 3 years because of this. I've listened to the Hunger Games this way, the True Blood books, the Dexters, the Stephanie Plums, most things by Stephen King, etc, etc. I've just started listening to A Game of Thrones. Its as whopper! Like 28 dics! Most crime novel books clock in from 7-9 discs! So I'm in for a good few days of listening.
So I was hoping we could use this thread to discuss any good audio books you've listen to, heard about, or are upcoming. I'll start off with the crown jewl of audiobooks, IMO, the Harry Potter series. I know there is a huge Fry vs Dale debate, but I have to say Jim Dale by far is the superior reader. His distinct character voices can't be beat. Fry has like 5 voices and Dale at one point held the Guiness Book World Record for most voices in an audiobook (the Game of Thrones back jacket is saying it holds it, but it was recorded several years ago so I don't know if thats still the case or not). I think I enjoy listening to his audiobooks more than watching the movies or reading the books myself. A truely remarkable experience.
