Cool!
I'm only on chapter one of Catching Fire.
Have you read it before snoop? Wait until you get to chapter 14 if you haven't it gets really good.
yeah, those ice cream trucks are hard to resistI started to read it a couple of times but always got side-tracked.
But now I'm good to go.
Spoiler:Well, movie adaptations will never be as good as the book lol. I'd probably have to see it again to appreciate it more and not be so analytical as the first time. I would've liked to see more violence/graphicness during the Games, but they had to keep it PG-13. Blah. Like, I think making Katniss shoot the District 1 tribute in the abdomen as opposed to his neck takes away from her badass-ness. Also, They kinda made the games seem like a walk in the park, don't you think? Just didn't look like Katniss had much of a struggle. I think the pacing was off. And Peeta's leg... um, that shouldn't have been healed so easily. And he clearly didn't lose it (the leg). I was annoyed they changed the way Katniss got the Mockingjay pin. But most of all I think, as I suspected before seeing the movie, that my biggest issue with the movie was Haymitch. He was just not drunk enough for me. Also, I see him being older. I know that he can't be more than like 40, but still. Also, I liked Lawrence as Katniss, I just think she was almost a little too happy for me. I felt the directing could've been better. BUT. With all that being said, I did like the movie. Hahaha. I'm looking forward to Catching Fire, and hopefully they step up their game and just go up from here.
So ***SPOILERS*** for those who have not yet seen/read The Hunger Games, but here are some of my thoughts on the movie:

Spoiler:I don't mind that they changed some of the violence to allow more people to see it, and it make more money at the box office. As far as the games it came across as more just trying to strategize how to stay alive. The mocking jay pin I knew was changed from the trailer and didn't bother me a bit, but I am curious to see how things play out with Madge in movie two. The change didn't bother me though because I knew it was coming and how it went in the book not something super special. I thought haymitch was awesome! He was drunk enough for me and honestly couldn't be as drunk in the movie as he is in the books. It just wouldn't work. Directing and pacing was fine for me but the movie wasn't long enough. I needed another 30 mins of screen time to flesh out bits and pieces more. I hope the next one is better but they set the bar pretty high.
Spoiler:there is a random rule change allowing 2 winners if they are from the same district
After watching the movie I really wanted to jump in and re-read books 2 & 3. I remember when I first read them that they aren't so much a typical sequel but direct continuations fitting into a larger canvas. You can definitely see that The Hunger Games is just a small part of a much larger and more important story.
