1/6 pattern making?

hey guys i wanted to start making 1/6 clothes and i was wondering if you guys use patterns and if so how to make them, or any other tips about making 1/6 clothes.

I always use paper towels as a starting point. Easy to mark and cut, cheap, and can be sewn.
