Beautiful figure, do you know if these will be for sale?

One nit to pick, the collar on the shirt is wrong. The collar pictured is a modern collar.

Not bad for an unlicensed figure, but not great. Hard to imagine any figure matching up to Rainman's version, but you can't unsee what has been seen.

I love it overall, but the facepaint+that expression makes me uncomfortable.

Yup, he looks creepy. I want to like it cause it reminds me of rainman's Chaplin which is extremely rare. The outfit is great.
And although, I realize that nice touch of trying to make it black and white, they should have just made him pale, like Sweeney Todd. But that overly white face and wide open eyes, it kinds makes it look creepy. If, it turns out to be a modest price figure, I may pick it up but will no doubt repaint the face.

It looks too serious and the sculpt isn't really saying "Chaplin" to me.

hat's setting too high. and yeah the eyes are creepy, rather than Chaplin's sad eyes. sculpts a bit off, but mainly the eyes. but then i always thought Rainman's looked a tiny bit like Mike Myers too

I've got mixed feelings about this Chaplin. A slight smile would work wonders...to serious. As Jungle Jom said, the collar is not right, and also, the jacket should only be buttoned in one place. On the other hand, the sculpt is better than what is available now (which is the world doll, right)? I have never seen Rainman's is it still available?

There were only 20 Rainman Chaplins made so they are very rare.

Ah, that's what I like about you guys...you work quickly! Actually, when I looked at Rainman's, I like this one better. This one looks very accurate, and like Chaplin. Just very sad (or serious)...guess that is part of it, right? The pathos...the clown who is sad...

I hate to say this but I agree with Geronimo... I think the headsculpt on this one is indeed better than Rainmans.

I just contacted this company about price and shipping costs as well as ordering procedure. I hope to hear back soon.

Yeah, the eyes, and eye brows, are off in my opinion. Eyes should be wider apart I think, and eyebrows should be far less serious to capture the familiar "Chaplan" look (also, maybe the nose should be shorter, face a bit fuller, maybe the jaw is too strong, too. He looks far too gaunt. At first I thought I was looking at a prototype of the figure, maybe a generic Hot Toys head painted as Chaplin). I'd also like to see the outfit, etc, in normal lighting as you can't tell much from the photos. The hand looks a little odd to me too.

I agree...looking closely, I also think the sculpt captures his likeness well. I think it's a high quality sculpt, with clothes that are good, but could be better. Maybe the shipped version will include the clothing mods that have been suggested (wing tipped shirt, vest). If not, no big deal, easy to find.

All this attention to detail, guys, and only Remy thinks the mime makeup is odd? I think it would be easier to judge this likeness if it weren't painted to look like Marcel Marceau. Also, Chaplin's eyes were dark blue.

There's an alternate sculpt posted at OSW. Not sure if both sculpts come with it, or if it's two figures.

Boy, neither sculpt really looks like Chaplin to me. Piling on the paint doesn't disguise that to me. The sculpt is off. If the outfit is great, then it might be worth it to buy for parts for an eventual custom head, but as it stands it seems weak and overpriced at $100+ even if it were a good sculpt.

Hey guys, if nothing else, this sculpt is certainly interesting and controversial, huh! But I agree with you, the second version of the sculpt is nearly perfect to my eyes.

Lejuan
03-06-2012, 02:00 PM
I happy with the second sculpt, but the costume I'm not sold on. The hat is poorly sculpted and could use some flocking, the fabrics look too heavy and he needs a vest. Nitpicking at this price point maybe. Some pics against a more neutral backdrop would show more detail.

jungle jom
03-06-2012, 02:13 PM
I can live with the outfit, if you keep his top coat closed the vest is not an issue but a vest would be a plus. I would like to see the collar fixed, I know I sound like a broken record regarding that. None of these problems are a deal breaker for me though.

I would like to see some closer shots of the shoes and a grey background for the pictures would be helpful.

Observation: Not good. The sculpt is great! and you can use the coat and cane, but the rest is prettty bad. THAT hat! wha were they thinking? The proto hat was right on. Like I posted on 1/6 Warriors, that sculpt looks absolutely nothing like Chaplin (see google images (https://www.google.com/search?q=charlie+chaplin&hl=en&safe=off&prmd=imvnsozlb&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=MIMmUKePA6friQK9joCYCQ&ved=0CFEQsAQ&biw=1165&bih=789) for proof). The body looks too large for head, the hat is a joke, and if you're going to sculpt an expression why not chose one of his iconic expressions rather than this absurd look?

Going to have to put a lot, and I mean A LOT of work into this to get something passible. I got the comical version so I'm not too concerned about the head sculpt.

I'm going to have to remove all the velcro from the clothes, and somehow fashion a new derby. I feel like the people who buy an Indiana Jones figure and then go about discarding everything except the head sculpt and make or buy everything else.

Hi all,

this is an update from KUMIK.

KUMIK will replace the followings parts of Charlie the Tramp:-
the head sculpt (Normal version. They will be doing a new sculpt)
the hat
a pair of hands
a snap on for the coat (after removing the velcro, the snap on can be sewed onto the coat)

The reason why KUMIK used velcro is because they change the material of the coat. According to KUMIK, the quality of the coat of the actual product is of better quality as compared to the prototype.

Customers who wish to have the parts changed can pm me or you can contact the retailers whom you had made the purchase.

Cheers!

After having to endure all of the negative comments from everyone (myself included), I thought it would be nice to post a positive comment, because it is well deserved...it is really nice to know that Kumik has been responsive to the concerns voiced here!

Will the comical sculpt remain the same as the prototype? I am assuming the hat, coat snap, and hands will change for that as well, right?

Thanks again for your efforts, Oobuh. I know it hasn't been easy to read all these posts, but if these changes are incorporated, they will make the figure much better!

I received my Kumik Chaplin figure. I got the comical version. The sculpt and paint are great in my opinion. The hat... ridiculous. The cane is a bit short and doesn't touch the ground when he is holding it. The oversized shoes are spot on.

I removed the velcro from the jacket, tigtened up the knees with a bit of Krazy Glue and water treated the pants. I also spent a good deal of time futzing thew collar and tie.

Headsculpt is very nice, and the body is much better than you'd expect on a cheap figure like this. Even the oversized hat doesn't look that bad in person. For under $100, I'm pretty happy with him.

Yeah, like I said, was never a fan from pics, but for that price it was worth a shot. It's still a problematic figure (wrong style collar, oversized hat, pants tapered around the ankle for some strange reason, cane too short, tie is the same width at both ends, the visible magnet in his head), but for what I paid, and with a little futzing, I feel satisfied.

Looks like the outfit is fine...sculpt doesn't capture Chaplin as good as the Kumik (comical) one though. That's just my opinion...others might see it differently..

Yep thats chaplin!!! They actuallly had peeps vote on fb what expression they wanted for the fig and this one. I too prefer the expression on kumik, but no doubt the face is chaplin... Ill finally have a charlie for my collection! And a licensed one at that!

From the neck down this one looks ok, but the head looks really bad (as in no resemblance to Chaplin) like Kumik one.

I agree...I see his jaw being too round (almost like a John Lennon, early Beatles roundness to it), hair a bit too long...that's the beauty of collecting these figures though. Each sees them differently....I'm glad Siquisiri will finally be getting a Chaplin figure though! Question is...how much will it cost him :)...

Looks good to me. Finally a decent Chaplin to add to my collection.

I agree with Jerry. The jaw on the head is a bit too round. It also lacks the attitude of the Kumik sculpt.

I also agree with Sean, the clothes are really well done.

The cane is a big improvement on the Kumik short cane. The derby is just about perfect.

All in all it is a very nice figure but with the probable cost of this figure, I think I'll stick with the Kumik figure I already have.

Why the heck do they keep tapering the pants around the ankles? Kumik did the same thing, makes it look like he's wearing MC Hammmer pants. They should be baggy at the bottom and pool up around the feet.

Sculpt is nice, but I prefer the subtler makeup on the Kumik. Shirt, derby, coat and cane look great.

Judging by previous ZCWO/Iminime releases, about $180.

I it Kumik version? His hand palm are bit off .... with head, the skin tone totally not right compared with head and body. Great facial expressions, thoughts I need Charlie Chaplin with happy smilling expression!

Ahhhhhh, had to come in and look. Had no idea, based on the title alone, what this thread was about.

Nice Charlie, btw. :nana:

Where can we get this figure for a good price. What I find on eBay is around $200.

Yeah, aside from "who's got the best price", does any after-market sculptor make a decent Chaplin head? I just cannot see Chaplin in this sculpt. The gigantic eyes are only one of its many problems.

The iminime/ZCWO Chaplin has a pretty good sculpt imo, but it's not an expression I'd want for my display.
