changing real hair color on pre haired head

HI,
i am on the verge of making a two colored haired female figure, but i will have to do the coloration myself.

what do you guys think would work best... all thats coming to mind is acrylic paint and i dont think the result will work well....

i will be using a phicen seamless body head for this... black hair..

Maybe air brushing? If you have that available.

Maybe use something to cover the headsculpt then (painter's tape, paper towel, rubber glove?).

just mask the head off with paper/painters tape, and/or blu-tac and there you go with the airbrush

What two colours are you hoping to achieve?. Black and ...?
I've coloured hair before but it's easier to go from lighter to darker than the reverse.
I think your right, acrylic won't work, it'll get gunky and flake.
Indelible marker ink, works well, you can use alcohol to make it bleed.
Failing that you could always re-root in a different colour.

ok for those wondering, i am making the new 52 harley quinn, but 1/6 with a phicen body, and i am going with her daisy duke style outfit from issue no 3 of suicide squad if not mistaken, got most of the outfit done and i want to make her blue/red hair ... why do her, why the heck not
