Which five do you hope will be revealed?

We already know one is a Scum & Villainy character but the other four could be anything (other than military I'm assuming).

I'm hoping for:

1. Bespin Luke

2. Hoth Leia

3. Padme

4. Jabba (hey they opened the door with their S&V preview page)

5. ROTS Palpatine/Sidious

If it's only five then I'm gonna plump for :-

1. Palpatine (ROTJ)
2. Lando (General)
3. Ki-Adi Mundi
4. Greedo
5. Jabba the Hutt

If we were to get another Luke so soon then for me Bespin is the way to go.

1. ROTS Palpatine
2. Snowbunny Padme--- hello!! remeber that poll we had years ago??
3. Dooku
4. Lando
5. either Plo Koon, Ki Adi Mundi, or Shaak Ti -- give me another crazy Jedi alien!!!

~~~sorry, but im all luked out. we've already got 3 versions of him now so i want some new characters before we get into his 4th version. im certain they'll get to him before too long.
Did they say they were announcing 5 12" figures? I can't see that they would give us that many at once... I heard there would be 2.
No, wait... That's six. Sorry.
And we don't know for a fact that every one of those five question marks is a Star Wars 12" figure. I remember some tantalizing question marks at Toy Fair that turned out to be a couple of vinyl deformed figures that caught everyone off guard. So don't assume we are definitely getting five new Star Wars figures at once.
But the newsletter did make reference to new Star Wars announcements--plural. There will be more than one.
2. Bespin Leia
3. Greedo
4. ROTS Yoda
I'm hoping for the following 5.
Palpatine
Chewie (why the hell not he is a hero of the rebellion)
Jabba the Hutt
Jango Fett
Leia ESB?Hoth outfit to pose with han solo
In the newsletter it seemed like there would be preorders during SDCC, do you think that means that the new SW 12" figures will go on preorder during that time?
I hope not, I've only got enough money for one right now and if there's a bunch that I would want to buy then I'll kill myself...
Anyway---Hoping for an ROTS Sidious, I'd really like a Tarkin but I don't think that's coming any time soon. Probably Greedo then for S&V.
Personally, I'm hoping for these announcements/pre-orders:
2) Princess Leia w/ Bespin Gown
3) Darth Tyranus (AOTC version...like there's really any difference anyway...)
But keep in mind that Kit Fisto's box reflects the changeover from 12 inch to 1:6 scale. Technically, Crumb would be possible because it would be 1:6 scale.
I've heard rumors floating around various sites that Jabba was in the works for the 1:6 line. Crumb may be the exclusive/inclusive edition accessory or part of an expansion pack.
Bottom line is that Crumb's species is three words and fits the letters given. The Z was a HUGE help.
I'll admit...I saw Z and immediately though "Yuuzhan Vong...yeah!!"
It's true, Sideshow has been adapting fast to accomodate SW. Innovative boxes, inclusive editions, "1:6" instead of 12", and so on. I wouldn't be surprised if they ship Salacious individually as an non-standard action figure. This will be the true test of the depth of their commitment to the SW license.
I agree with you completely!!
That's why a 1/6 scale Jabba would not surprise me at all. Granted, it'd probably be $125-150, but people will pay it. I'm not sure I will since I don't like Jabba THAT much. But if it's a mindblowing sculpt and the price is closer to $125, I just might do it. :)
First of all, why would Salacious Crumb be too small to release on his own? We are talking about 1/6 figures here. Figures that adhere to the 1/6 scale. Whoever said anything about 12"? That is just a made up term because most 1/6 human figures are close to 12" tall. AFAIK, Sideshow figures have always been in accordance to the 1/6 scale. So was Hasbro's line.
If anything Salacious Crumb may or may not sell well by himself, based on popularity. But it should have nothing to do with size. Are you saying Yoda can't be sold alone? Size also has nothing to do with the costs involved in making a figure. Infact, small alien figures require their own customized articulated bodies, so they are most likely more expensive to make than their regular human couterparts.
I don't think BIB justifies an Inclusive edition. He's no Maul or Fett. Plus, a Salacious Crumb would be quite a large piece for an exclusive.
Makes more sense with Jabba given the size and price of that piece. But I'm still having trouble imagining a 1/6th scale Jabba by Sideshow...and I have the Illusive Concept piece. Its huge.
How much articulation could he have? He's a giant slug. No saber or blaster poses there!!! :)
And I agree with the argument using Yoda as an example. He certainly won't be 12 inches tall, but he's a sure bet for the line at some point. And he won't be sold as an accessory...that's for sure!!
I'm still placing my bets on a 1/6th Jabba the Hutt with Salacious Crumb as the exclusive/inclusive accessory and the expansion pack being his dais, railing, and bong bowl. Pricepoints: $140 for Jabba Exclusive/Inclusive and $40 for the expansion pack.
Crumb is TINY, skinney, and naked. Yoda is larger, thicker, and clothed. Yoda needs artciulation and accessories. Crumb was nothing more than an accessory in the movie. If a Bib, Jabba, and Leia, or C-3PO all come with a non-articulated or semi-articulated (ie like a NECA or McFarlane "figure") then we'd have Crumb in just about every pose he would need to be in.
I just really don't see Crumb selling on his own. Yoda, deffinataly because he is much more popular and known. Hmmmmm...
Good point. I also think if I worked at Sideshow and was going to give away an awesome clue about SDCC figures (JABBA!!!!!) my give-away clue would be the exclusive/inclusive... Jabba is definately a popular enough character for the inclusive line and a great way to kick off Scum and Villainy since he is the epitome of that line!
Amanaman
07-17-2006, 05:46 PM
Any new molds add greatly to the cost, and articulation adds some more. The standard Sideshow body has paid itself off long ago, as it has been used so many times. Salacious is most likely an accessory, since the character can't be all that popular to justify the cost of adding in articulation. Maybe he'll be included with me. ;)
If it is Jabba, you just know it has been in development for over a year and I bet, I just bet someone @ LucasFilm workshop may have suggested it after seeing how successfully SSC did full rubber bodies for the Creature from Black Lagoon and metaluna Mutant... it is a major challenge. You know, when Brant said that the Two-figures thing on starwars.com was misleading, it could be partly true, it might be a Jabba figure and then a Crumb expansion pack, which would somewhat be like two figures but would actually be missleading if you said it was two figures----then again there are 5 empty spots and I can't think that they'd place something there that's not Star Wars, so everything's up in the air right now---and what abou the first hint anyway? No, I really don't think so but you never know, developing a special one-off body for one figure with full rubber body may not be economically feasible. Jabba may not be rubber but he won't be polystone IMO, perhaps because he just mostly sits like a slug (I know) he may have some simpler base with articulating arms, tongue and eyes maybe.
I think back to how he was designed for the film and he was basically a puppet tent with two operators inside (arms and tail)...
No customizing clothes, that saves a bunch of production cost right there and if they came up with a way of covering a rubber suit over a simple egg-shaped design body, I don't know, I'm just saying the original puppet was fairly simple so maybe there is a way to do it at a decent price point...
I also only want Jabba if he is articulated at his tail, torso, arms, wrists, mouth, and eyes. Don't you guys want to be able to close his eyelids to reenact the Han and Leia reuniting scene? I also only want Jabba if he is articulated at his tail, torso, arms, wrists, mouth, and eyes. Don't you guys want to be able to close his eyelids to reenact the Han and Leia reuniting scene? Also, because his eyes would be so large, it would be nice if we could move them from side to side.
All great points JL, I guess if we're gonna get one we want all of that, question is how to do that for a decent price point. SSC is famous for pulling off stuff like this, at least some of their monsters were unique and groundbreaking in design and application.
I'm wondering if SSC maybe got together with the LucasFilms prop/creature shop to figure out a simple way to make this work...
But, even though we've got two more letters, I think it would be much easier if we could have the first letters of the first two words, then we could have something to go by. Or you can just sit and wait and laugh at us while you eat your nachos---hmmm, nachos, with velveta cheese...:monkey1
darthviper107
07-18-2006, 02:48 PM
Well, there's another thing, what Brant has given us is a hint--not the name of a new release, so it's entirely possible that they are just going to release several figures from the Jabba's Throne Room Environment, so Jabba, Salacious Crumb, maybe Bib Fortuna, or Slave Leia. That could be why the Jedi Luke figure is there also, because he would fit into that setting, or perhaps they are also going to release an ROTJ Emperor which would fit the setting also (ROTJ that is) so it might not actually be a playset type thing at all.
Salacious Crumb was the answer, so we do have high expectations that Crumb will either be a release on his own, or an exclusive to another release. Brant's 'blank spaces' puzzle wasn't directly reffering to Salacious Crumb (although it could be since Dusty didn't know if the word jumble was for the same figure as Brant's)
But I must say, what better way is there to start off the Scum & Villany line than to start with Jabba the Hutt?
