I don't know why members are posting links to ebay auctions.

Hey, look, here's a bargain on ebay. http://search.ebay.com/Sideshow_W0QQbsZSearchQQcatrefZC6QQcoactionZcompar eQQcoentrypageZsearchQQcopagenumZ1QQfclZ3QQfposZQ5 AIPQ2fPostalQQfromZR10QQfsooZ2QQfsopZ2QQftrtZ1QQft rvZ1QQsacatZQ2d1QQsadisZ200QQsargnZQ2d1QQsaslcZ2QQ sbrftogZ1QQsofocusZunknown

I think that should cover it sufficiently.

Hey Dave, I think we need another area of the forum. EBAY LINKS.

Sorry to be so sarcastic. Not. I am getting annoyed with the situation for some reason. Don't know why exactly. I do think if it is something other than an alert to an item, like a discussion, it is warranted. When it is just pointing, it is of no useful purpose, and belongs in the Sale section or Sandbox.

I also think some links are close to fingering members as scalpers and flippers. Let's get real nasty and start naming names shall we? Some may be jumping on the bandwagon, and that may be why there is an increase in this sort of thing. Some are post padders and some are people being smart. The 'look at this' mentality is probably artificially increasing the prices on the secondary market to boot. Do we need to be doing what other boards are doing? If I want an item, and am looking to bid, I don't want more interest than is otherwise likely. Sure, I don't have to read these posts, and wouldn't if they were adequately titled. So how about it Dave? Let's have an "Ebay Spoilers' section.

I don't know. I post the links because I want to help people looking for whatever it is they want at a low price so they don't have to make the (*)mistakes I did and pay $110 for reg. SS Luke, $80 for reg. SS Obi-wan, and $175 for ROTS Medi-Vader.
If I ever link eBay auctions its because a) somebody asked for help finding something b) I got something for cheaper than I had seen around other places and wanted to share the love and c) sheer boredom.

I like the idea of an eBay forum though. ;)

(*) I am not that dumb and naive anymore. BWA HA HA

I think we all try to help each other pixletwin. It is the basic idea of this type of forum, and I am not wanting to pressure a stop to this kind of activity. Rather, I would suggest a PM to the person concerned, to aid them in their quest. To announce it publicly isn't helping them, or your good intentions. It only alerts scalpers to another possibility for a quick reward.

Point taken. If am bidding on an auction the last thing I want to do is tell everyone. :monkey5

I've actually done this for a few people here. I would rather PM someone to give them a better chance at getting what they're looking for. There are lurkers who look for info like this. Not all lurkers, but some.

I hate to see somebody who we all know has been looking for a particular piece get alerted to it in a public thread, only for them to post a reply hours later stating that the item was gone by the time they read about it. Had it been a PM, they might have had a chance.

And there is a forum for ebay links already - granted it's for members to list their stuff, but the forum does exist.

I can't stand it when people whore up other sections and threads with their stuff for sale on ebay. Post it only in the section that is made for it.
