Finally did a photo shoot in 105-degree heat yesterday. Les Walker had a repaint of the Sideshow 12" Dracula posted on his website (http://figuremasterles.tripod.com/) that was so phenomenal I had to ship him mine. I hadn't displayed it in a long while...but now it's on permanent display. Here is Les's repaint:

He did a good job, and no disrespect, but Bela kind of looks like a weird woman.:monkey1

Still, better and more detailed than Sideshow's original color paintjob.

Yea the lips are little too red for me, but the rest is top notch. All the early SS Monsters could improve 10 fold with modern paint aps.

Yeah, I was thinking I took it a bit far into the red there... :slap

But, I've seen so many shots of Lugosi that look so much like silent movie makeup, with pronounced lips etc. Plus, I recall some old Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine art covers that must have enfluenced me a bit. I guess in this case, he's just fed...

Hey Gruff, get some Black and White shots for us! Silver Screen him up in one shot and that may bring it home. I hope... :D

That's it for today. Hope you like it Les. In person, the lips don't seem too red.

Beautiful work Les. I believe the lips are really that red. Here is some promo art to compare: http://www.upcominghorrormovies.com/shock/images/Lugosi.jpg
Be sure to let us know when you are opening shop again! :)

Damn, Les! I love it! The paint just jumps out at you!! You can tell this is one twisted Monster in a tux!

I just wish Sideshow would give us a new one, along with Franky, with a new sculpt and more tailored, detailed costume.

I'd love for the paint apps to look like the 1:1 bust. Gorgeous (although they should be using glass eyes, but whatever...)

NEIL! My buddy!
I haven't heard from you in forever!
Thanks mate! Email me again some time!

Thanks Customikey! I love your Bela repaint too and to get a good response from you on this one means a lot. Thanks.

And Pixletwin, can't see your reference shot, but thanks for the backup.

I feel like such an OLD hoser here, referring to images from old magazines from the 60's and 70's as refs for my work. But, they are.
Oh, and I did notice, right after I said something about the red, that the ad for the 1/4 Premium figure at the top of the page has redder lips than mine did! :rotfl

Eyes of the beholder I guess....:D

Whatever. As long as he looks better than that original factory paint! (Which I think SS as a company have vastly improved on, except for the constant grey tones to the skins...what's up wid dat?!?!?) I too would like to see a newly crafted re-release of these original SS figures. What a difference a few years makes!

Les, your work continues to amaze me.... I count myself lucky to be a part of a board with such talented Customizers such as yourself and Mikey. It always gives me such inspiration to continue my own efforts and try new things when painting...

Great Bela!! Spot on and I love the eyes!!! :D
