Building the Predator rescue team members

Hi, I would like in this thread we show how to build the human members from Predator 1 movie. We can concentrate in this thread all about the team: custom heads, paintjobs, repaints, costume, weaponry....(as "Building your USCM correctly" thread)

If you have a member like Poncho, Blain, Dillon, Mac, Hawkins, Billy, Dutch..., show it!!! :wink1:

I replaced the original muscle body for Wolverine/Royce body too.

The problem is the head. What Mac's head do you use with Andrews body? There is no good heads without neck IMO.

I trimmed the neck off mine and dremmeled out the interior, it fits fine, used skiman custom mac

Awesome! Looks like they came out pretty good! Talk about a hell of a process and undertaking trying to put together the whole team when you have to piece everything together! I've realized this very quickly.

I started a new Dillon head sculpt. I'll be doing about 3 of these and modeling them after his appearance in the actual movie. Should be done here in a week or so. I'll post pics. See what you guys think.

I'm not actually doing these sculpts by traditional means. I want them to come out looking a bit more like Hot Toys sculpts and I'm just not that skilled with clay and it would take me awhile to get up to speed. So I teamed up with a buddy of mine who is a materials engineer.

I'm giving a new technique a shot. Hopefully it turns out well .... the FIRST time through, haha.

It's taken a couple months and a lot of learning to get my first sculpt done. As I refine my process, things will start going a bit faster. I aim to provide some high quality custom sculpts and even bypass the need for people to drill holes to make the head mount on a Hot Toys body.

Here is my first sculpt. It's of Dillon. Looks even more realistic in person since my camera phone is doing this perspective thing with taking pics up close.

Well I was working with someone on a new method for creating 1/6th scale heads out of a rubberized material. However, that's going to take a big longer. This head was done as a 3d model and printed. I put in some hours on sculpting it based on Carl Weathers character in Predator. i'm working on Hawkins now. I should have all supporting cast done in about 6 months time.

I dare not photgraph them next to Blaine as his head is massive.
Dutch is hot toys and the No hat is a apollo hot toys recast so in theory it should be small and hes still bigger then the new heads.
Bit disapointing when you consider Mac was a very big looking guy.

Thanks for posting the picture. The sculpt are nice but the size is an issue for me. Poncho was probably the smallest guy in the unit, but his head seems bigger than anyone elses. Nice to finally see someone complete the group.

LOL, Well, firstly you need to get your facts straight. I'm not selling them. I'm helping out the sculptor. I get nothing from the sales.
Secondly, you're accusing me of not "publicly" admitting something that I don't believe to be true. Basicly, you want me to admit that you are right without seeing what you are seeing. Then again, I don't have the head you're complaining about.
Can you post pix of what you are claiming? Then, we can see what you're talking about. And, then, if necessary I'll talk to the sculptor about a replacement.

Ey monkeybat! You can see in my pic the size for Mac. Anyway, I have not got Mac with hat, and really it looks smaller than no hat version, but I imagine the sculpt is the same... :dunno

No offense to you but you were saying that YOU'RE Mac head was too small. I didn't recall seeing images of YOU'RE Mac head. Not looking to argue but I can't read and remember everything. And being as you're post was at 4:33pm yesterday and I replied less than an hour later. And I'm replying as soon as I got to the boards again today I don't see that as rude, but more of a minor oversight of your 3:10 am post.
Had I not taken the time to talk with you at all, that would have been rude. I don't appreciate the insult.
I will try and get ahold of Bill and see if there is something that needs to be corrected. If there is a problem it can only be fixed if brought up. Trust me, you weren't being ignored, but perhaps bringing it up a bit less aggressively and accusatory would be better.

My guess would be dry brush of crushed colored chalk? Sealed with dull coat? Of course, I'm just repeating techniques from a pretty good write up on the osw site. I am eager to learn the techniques myself if other better ways exist!

Thank you for posting the picture. Blaine looks okay on that body, but I was looking for someone to post the entire group of heads side by side. I've seen enough that I have decided to hold off on these until I see if the other rumored Predator team heads materalize. Everyones bashes are looking good.

Snyder-man's dad told me they still plan on releasing Predator heads at some point in the near future. They want to knock out a few more Aliens heads before they start on these.

He measured the heads with calipers and did find a 1mm shrinkage. The Mac with hat is being pulled and will not be offered for sale.

Thats what I thought too. But... he wants to get heads out there not worry about 1mm differences. Honestly, I think that the heads are too new to have shrunk.
