I didn't catch that the first time, but you may be right. If you watch it from the point of view that the kids know they are being recorded, you can pick up the tells.

Actually, I've no problem with thinking the kids didn't know about it, they just knew their dad was recording them, so the boy turned to look at his father to basically say WTF?!

listening to Luke's dialogue without the picture (the camera is focused on the kids), demonstrates just how similar that last "no" (30 sec mark) that he yells is to his father's own "no".
